"Great location for Henley and Marlow"
Lovely hotel set in amazing grounds. Nice attentive staff. We had a lovely stay but were out much of the time so didn't get opportunity to take advantage of the spa (which looked really nice).

"Great location but very dated "
We stayed for one night at the Forbury so we could be bright and early to attend daughters graduation ceremony. Hotel was is a great location right next to Carluccios and a couple of minutes from the Oracle. It's a great looking building from the front too - and from the courtyard. Lovely architecture. The staff were great but as for being 5 star, well it might have been once upon a time. We stayed in one of the apartments which was huge and there were only the two of us. Two bedrooms with ensuites and a separate cloakroom. It also had a huge lounge and kitchen - though we couldn't fathom out how to get a picture on the TV!! Think that may have been user error!!! Rooms were good and sort of clean but carpets were badly marked in places making them look dirty and tiles in bathroom were stained. The area by the lifts as well as the lifts themselves could probably benefit from a refurb. Kitchen was pretty spotless. We had to walk from reception to the apartments which were at the back and we went down a staircase by the kitchen where the carpet looked like something Mum had in her house in the 70's and while nothing wrong with a bit of retro it did have a bit of a bad foody sort of smell as you walked there. It did lead to a lovely courtyard garden. Shame but we never had time to try it out. I'd stay there again but if you are looking for 5 star this maybe isn't the one.

Cliveden

"I felt like Royalty...."
Upon turning into the long driveway, you then get to see this ‘Palace’ at the end, which is awe inspiring! It is a beautiful hotel to stay at, with only about 40 rooms. You are made to feel special the minute you walk in. The staff cover every details and nothing is too hard, any request. The main foyer is that of an old medieval Scottish castle, which the tapestries hanging, suits of armour and chesterfields to relax in to drink one of the many diverse drinks to order form the menu which is about 12 pages in size. The room was superb, very comfortable and large, with all amenities expect of a 5 star hotel, and the interesting thing, is that the rooms don’t have numbers on the doors, they have your name inside a brass holder. Never stayed anywhere before that had my name of the room door! The grounds of Cliveden are amazing – It is a national trust and during the day people pay to walk among the manicured grounds, but afterward 5pm or in the morning, you get to walk everywhere by yourself as the public aren’t allowed there. So beautiful and tranquil to be amongst the ground. I definitely will visit again.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
