We stayed in the penthouse room with two bedrooms. Be sure to check availability of that room type with balcony or terrace. Note that there are penthouse rooms that come with neither a balcony nor a terrace. Although the room was great, we were disappointed with having no outdoor space. Our room was located at the front of the hotel on King Street. We didn’t realize how much noise there would be from the street and from the stores under the room. Be sure to request a room on the third floor or towards the back of the property. The staff was friendly, especially the valet staff. We also arranged for a sunset sail through the hotel that was the highlight of our trip to Charleston. I highly recommend that. We also ate at the restaurant Lowland and it was a great experience. Our waiter, in particular, was very knowledgeable and a real pleasure.

We adored The Ryder! From the amenities, to the staff, everything was excellent.

Beautiful hotel. The breakfast restaurant was rather slow and when an issue arose did not deal with it as well as one would expect from a 5 star place. Their bar place also gets filled up quickly. Stay here but eat elsewhere.

Good

Having a room next to the lift made for a consistent noise throughout much of the night.

We loved the rooftop area and seating in the lounge. Angel at the front desk was very helpful, with good information about the area. All other staff was friendly and helpful. Great location will stay again

The property needs maintenance, staff need help.
