Cockroach infestation- avoid!

If you enjoy staying in a cockroach free apartment, then I’d suggest looking elsewhere. The apartment block is riddled with cockroaches. On the night we arrived we saw a cockroach, but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt as we knew we were in the city and this may happen. However, after our day out the following day, we saw 5 cockroaches in the space of one hour. At this point, we decided to leave. The staff do not work past 5pm and were uncontactable at this point. Therefore, we had to provide security with our room key, so we could leave immediately. Hotels.Com have been trying to contact this apartment block for a refund for 5 days. The management have no common courtesy and could not understand why we left the apartment despite it being riddled with cockroaches. After days of chasing the refund, I had to contact the property myself and inform them they need to communicate. The property finally refunded us, but only for ONE night instead of two, because we left after 5pm the day the infestation of cockroaches happened. Due to this being past ‘checkout’ they’ve classed it as a night which is completely ludicrous. They also explained their decision by informing me that ‘we’ve had this situation happen before and another couple accepted a one night refund.’ Clarifying that cockroaches are clearly a repeated issue. Therefore, if you expect a reasonable service, a company with morals, and humane/hygienic apartments- book elsewhere.
