Doorman should be attentive and cheerful.they should greet or at least node or smile to make the visitor feels welcome. stayed in other 5star hotel in vietnam, they are more sensitive with muslim customer ..eg: they have special cutleries marked with different colour, they note which food in buffet menu is halal and even prepare it for the customer. Staf at the counter should be well versed in english too.

I stayed here for a few days R&R at the end of a G Adventures trip around Vietnam.
After a bit the mad crazy traffic of Hanoi can get to you and entering the lobby a sense of calmness takes over. I thoroughly recommend paying a bit more for a room in the original building to get the full experience (though the new building is just the other side of the swimming pool). The bed is probably the most comfortable I have ever slept in! All the usual room extras one would expect in a 5* hotel.
The swimming pool area is small but very relaxed with the pool staff bringing you a refreshing towel /water. They also hold free yoga classes some mornings (book when you arrive) - also worth considering are the cooking classes - I missed out as no spaces. Quite expenses but from talking to others a great experience. My only critique is the food /bar is expensive for Vietnam - US 5* hotel prices which comes a bit of a shock when used to spending $6 on a meal in rest of Vietnam. But chill and enjoy - or as I did walk out to local café for breakfast! The cocktail list is mainly short ones - where as I like long ones to sip - but the bar tender was happy to make up one at my request.

My wife and myself had two stays in the past week broken by a visit to Holong Bay. The hotel staff were very helpful in all ways, nothing was too much trouble. The taxis that bear the Nikko name were always on hand and good operators (cheap to get around). The bar had a fantastic happy hour being good nibbles and great value. We were always being helped by the concierge operators when coming and going and always translated for us to the taxi drivers. One of my best hotels.

This hotel would have to be the closest to perfection.
Two things however. Firstly there was a bit a construction and maintenance that was going on that we were not aware of when we booked.
Secondly, as comfortably and beautiful as our room was there was no proper chair in the room to sit on. Plenty of divan type lounge but a bit hard on the back after a while.
But we would definately recommend this hotel and stay there again.

Enjoyd our stay very much. Perfect if you want to be by the beach. Only negative is that there are no restaurants close by outside the hotel. So you are stuck eating at hotel restaurants (food is great, but pricey). We travelled with 4 kids, all under 6.
