This place was a real gem. So glad we found it randomly and decided to stay here during our road trip. We even extended our stay once there.
Quiet, beautiful and love the art work and the unique style of each room.
Ours, room #2 was amazing: king size bed, living room area, huge bathroom and we even got a separated private sunroom.
And what to say about the architecture of this mansion: just wow.
5/5
A wonderful surprise. No great expectations as we picked as a convenient overnight location en route from Ottawa to Halifax. We were in for a wonderful surprise. A lovely quirky hotel hidden away up a hill from the town. Easy walk down to the town and a great train to run or walk along. Breakfast was freshly cooked and excellent. Only downside is that outside of weekends the dining options are very limited. Nice pool and steam room.
If you’re looking for something better than a traditional hotel this is a very unique property just off the highway. We were pleasantly surprised to have a full breakfast included with our stay.
Nice property, well decorated. I was a bit confused with self check in (old school traveler here) but the owners were thankfully on site when we arrived to show us around.
The restaurant is closed during the week which was disappointing after a very long day in the car, but they had a kitchen area with a microwave and prepared food ( I did not try anything)
My only complaint would be the noise I could hear in the adjacent room and “bowlers”above. It is a very old castle so do not expect sound proof rooms …. And “honeymooners” beware!
Thankfully the guests all seemed to respect a 10pm quiet time unwritten rule and we were able to sleep peacefully.
The gourmet breakfast was phenomenal!
Overall good stay, would highly recommend.
This was such a unique and lovely property! The pool, hot tub and steam room were spotless and so nice, and our room was so unique with a little loft. The property itself is so pretty. And the breakfast was divine!
The bath also had locally made sweetgrass shampoo, conditioner and body wash. It was so amazing I bought some from the tuck shop.
I was travelling with my two young kiddos and it was the perfect stop on our way back west!
Staff was very friendly; included breakfast was amazing; rooms were clean; air conditioner was so noisy, we couldn't sleep; room and hotel need serious updates.
A little pricey for what you get.
Very unique as each room are different and has its own decorations. Self check in and check out without access cards or keys.

Disliked: Staff & service
We got taken for a ride by the hotel and/or Expedia for the cost of one night. We needed to change from 05 Aug to 06 Aug and could not do so thru Expedia after several hours of trying. We tried contacting the hotel and left message requesting a change. When we contacted the hotel on route on 06 Aug we were told that they did not have any rooms available for the reservation.
I am an 81 year old Veteran and find it offensive that we were treated so callously by all concerned. Lesson learned.
we LOVED this hotel. one of the cutest places we’ve stayed. the building itself is absolutely gorgeous, and every room is unique which we loved. and the jacuzzi, beside the slide at the pool, was the best thing ever. we enjoyed a lovely breakfast made fresh which is super unique and it was to die for. we DEFINITELY will be coming back.
This place was like a dream. The check in process was the easiest I've come across. The staff is freindly and the facilities are world class. The hot tub and pool were clean and the restaurant was cozy and welcoming. They have alot of smaller item which you may have forgotten eg toothpaste, perfume etc on sale 24/7. This is definitely a hidden gem.
Beautiful property and building. Loved the art and the chefs garden. Unfortunately we stayed on a Thursday so we could not try the restaurant but the free breakfast was fantastic and the homemade bacon and sausage were delicious. Root veg hash was awesome and something different.
Will definitely be back to stay and try the restaurant in the future.
