Diamond Island Resort and Penguin Tour

"Hotel with amazing view"
Have no idea why the recent reviews are terrible. We actually found the resort is amazing, it is located right next to the astonishingly beautiful diamond island beach with two minutes walk, the owner is very friendly (a little bit shy), the room is spacious, everything is clean, there is heater in the bathroom, you can even see the penguins by joining their self arranged tour at night. The whole experience is enjoyable and I definitely recommend this resort to everyone.

"Perfect get-away"
We stayed in a stone cottage steps from a beach on Great Oyster Bay. The cottage, the grounds and the scenery were beautiful. The people working at the retreat were extremely friendly and interested in our holiday experience. They were very helpful. There is a lot to see and do in the area if you like wildlife, hiking, walks along beaches, tours of vineyards, and taking photographs. We would go to the east coast of Tasmania again in a heartbeat and would stay in the Piermont Retreat. It is a truly beautiful location.

"Want an escape from reality? This is for you!"
Wow, I can't rave enough about this hotel. I wouldn't even call it a hotel - it's more like an upscale, modern cabin. The cabin is situated about 6km off the main road, right near Freycinet National Park. It's completely secluded back there, with just your fellow cabin-goers sharing the space with you. The little cabins are quite small - but they have everything you need, even the little things: place to set your bags, plugs in all the right places for cell phones, computers, etc., breakfast ready for you in the fridge in the morning... they thought of all the details and made it perfect. Everything is really modern, sleek and clean, but completely cozy. You could spend your entire day on the property if you wanted to, cooking in your room (it has 2 stove burners and a toaster, but no oven), walking around the property and spotting wildlife. We spent a good 30 minutes watching a wallaby right in front of our patio who was just searching around for little flowers to munch on. The back porch is huge, complete with two adirondack chairs, just waiting for you to sit and relax and take in the view. And the view? Incredible hilltop view of the national forest and the ocean in the background. I loved the amazing view, the seclusion you feel and the complete calm that comes over you knowing everything you need is in that tiny little room with you. Add in a bottle of red wine to drink on the patio and you have a recipe for the perfect night.

"Nice View of Ocean from Room"
We stayed on the top floor in an old room, view was wonderful but the d├ęcor was very 1970's pink and green. Bed was terrible but we requested a move to a room with a better mattress for the second night and that was much better. Bathrooms do not have extractor fans so tend to be a little mouldy. Breakfast was Ok and overall the property was value for money. Staff were very friendly and told us that the new owners are completing renovations so there is likely to be many improvements to the older style rooms in the not to distant future.

East Coast Tasmania is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in East Coast Tasmania, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your East Coast Tasmania hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
