The best thing about the hotel was its obliging and smiling staff. The hotel was overpriced for its facilities. The rooms in real life look nothing like what the websites show, being utilitarian and jaded furnishings with sparse bedding. The hotel was advertised as four star but I would rate this two and a half to three star. The showers were nice and hot, and the breakfast much improved from the quality complained about in previous reviews, lovely bread and croissants. I appreciated the GM taking note of past complaints and improving on the breakfast.

Location was great, right next to the Plaza de Armas and walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Room was clean and a comfortable size with a great view. Staff was helpful and friendly, not as English-speaking as some of the other tourist hotels we stayed at in Chile, but plenty enough where we had no trouble checking in or ordering dinner. Breakfast was great - tons of options including an omelette bar. We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was very good, and dirnks and appetizers at the bar were also great.

We only stayed in the hotel overnight, the room was spacious, bed was comfortable and since we were leaving early before the breakfast buffet, the kitchen staff prepared an early breakfast for us before we left.

To be fair I boooked at only a few hours notice. Expedia said there were only a few rooms left, but that was patently not true as the hotel was almost empty. Still, nice room.... apart from an interconnecting door (locked of course) to the room next door, with a guy constantly on his phone. It was like being in the same room as him, meaning loud Spanish conversations plus his habbit of singing ditties to himself. Not nice.
Anyway, he left the next day. The pillows are too puffy. I know that sounds odd, as the usual problem is pillows like dead gophers.... small and limp. These ones are too big to lie comfortably on your side (I have wide shoulders, so it isn't that). Weirdly, these were ultra long pillows (nice).... but stuffed into regular length pillow cases! Meaning that about a third of their length is caseless. A bit like a porn star wearing a minature size condom. The only other complaint was the luke warm water. After a hard day fly fishing in cold water you want a hot shower. This, alas, was not to be.
But in other respects the hotel was fine. No problems parking. Close to downtown. Friendly and helpful staff, which reflects the Patagonian character anyway - they're just nice people. Breakfast is good by any standard, with a wide range of cold cuts, cereals, toast, scrambled eggs, and loads of juices, coffee, and tea. Obviously I would prefer bacon, eggs, and sausages, but that problem lies with me, not the hotel. Hope this review helps - PJL

This hotel is something special, the only way to get to it is by boat or a pantoon plane, since there are no roads leading to the remote side of the lake it was built upon. The hotel staff was very accommodating, and the hotel facilities are nice too. They also have natural hot spring termas that are open 24 hours which are really cool to use at night and look out at the stars. They also have several activities available you can take advantage of. We did the kayaking in the morning before we left which was fun. The only thing I would change here is the restaurant. The setting is great, and the breakfast was a good (typical German style you find in Chile). However the dinner is way overpriced and you only have 2 selections for a 3 course meal. I was here with 2 other people and no one was impressed. The food was OK. Maybe we were here on an off night too. If you can eat before you get there, I would recommend based off our experience. Other than that, really great hotel!
