Comfort and amenities

Chose this Hotel for an event at the Segerstom center. Ayres exceeded our expectations. We started our stay with a delicious lunch of crab cakes and a panini. I'm a little princess & the pea with pillows and often bring my own. I didn't this time and didn't miss my own. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect! We used the shuttle for the airport and Segerstrom center. What a bonus! Everyone we encountered was pleasant, kind and helpful!

The hotel is well kept. It feels homey, clean and has beautiful decor. Check in was fast and the staff are friendly, helpful and courteous. The restaurant serves very good food at reasonable prices. The servers are fast, attentive and all provide a personalized dining experience. My family and I will be back.

Old, Smelly, and Definitely Not Worth It..

The carpet in the room is extremely old — it honestly looks and smells like it was made from an old cat. There’s a strong, unpleasant odor that hits you as soon as you walk in. The whole hotel has a musty, almost rotting smell, as if it hasn’t been properly cleaned in decades. Everything feels dirty and neglected. The plumbing fixtures are clearly from the 1970s and haven’t been replaced since. The shower, sink, and toilet all show heavy wear and tear. This place desperately needs a full renovation. It’s one of the dirtiest and most outdated hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Not recommended.

Ayres Hotel is a great option in the Newport/Costa Mesa area. We stayed one night to visit family and it was a pleasant stay. We wish we had more time to enjoy the courtyard and pool. We walked to Pom and Olive and had a great dinner. Parking filled up quickly so keep that in mind if you decide to go somewhere in the evening.

The refrigerator was not working and I was not refunded for my food gone wrong. The WIFI is very poor, I had to go coffee shop to work. The front desk outright refused for any refund.

This place is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, and the cafe serves truly delicious food. However, if you’re staying on the first or second floor, be prepared to hear every footsteps from the guests above-it can be quite noisy.
