"Very Nice Hotel"
We only stayed in Chetumal for one night before crossing into Belize. We arrived in Chetumal on an ADO bus. The taxi from the bus station to the hotel is 20-25 pesos (the driver initially wanted 100 pesos but a local intervened). Check in at the hotel was very easy. We were there on a Sunday and the hotel seemed very empty - but it was also very quiet too. The room was very nice, large, and clean. The only quirk was the AC worked too well - the porter turned it on and a few minutes later chunks of ice started falling out of it. We thought it was funny but in made for a slick floor. We called the front desk and they fixed it immediately. Chetumal was almost totally shut down since it was Sunday but there were some clothing stores open and my wife stocked up on some outfits at very good prices. There are also a lot of restaurants close by. This part is not about the hotel, but about our experience. We caught a Belize City bus the next morning. When we crossed the border the Mexican dude made us pay the tourist tax (500 pesos/person) again. We showed him our airline ticket that we paid it already but he was adamant - everyone pays, he said. He wouldn't budge. If we didn't pay we couldn't get back on the bus. We forked the money over and it went right into his pocket - literally. When we entered Mexico a week later we had to pay the 500 peso tourist tax again. What a ripoff!

Nice hotel, clean and quiet. Perfect location; you can walk across the parking lot to a shopping mall with lots of shops and places to eat. Staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast is very nice and the coffee they serve better than most restaurants in the area.

Hotel Juliet

"Decent place to stay in the middle of things."
There's not a lot of touristy stuff in Chetumal. However, Hotel Juliet is a pretty decent place to stay in the middle of what's there. It's clean and across the street from much of what you'd want in Chetumal. Don't freak out that cars drive right into the hotel lobby. It means your car will be secure. Across the street is the mercado viejo (which you can use to give a taxi directions). If you need a bag or torta, you can get it there cheap. As well, the Museum of Mayan Culture is next to that, and if you are going for Mayan Ruins, this will give a lot of context and interpretation before you visit the ruins (bilingual, too). The bus station is right behind the market, with the added benefit that the area is crawling with taxis. Really, the hotel is about the location: it's central to much of what you want. Besides that, it's pretty comfortable, and has WIFI. I found the wifi to be a bit unreliable in my room, but I could fix it by moving a bit. I think it's a quirk of being on the end of the top floor. Otherwise, my only real complaint is that the lock on the door wasn't up to US standards. It's a simple push-button door knob, so if you neglect to push in the button before closing the door, it will be unlocked when you leave. However, learning this the hard way with all my stuff inside, there wasn't any problem with crime or security. It's a good place for a base to head to the cenote or sleep before heading to Bacalar or Belize.

The hotel was a nice place but obvious wear and tear of the furniture and building could not go unseen! Some of the rooms had these old ac units that made a lot of noise and little ventilation! Service and breakfast good was awesome but the building needs upkeep!

Chetumal is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Chetumal, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Chetumal hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
