"better than average in-town hotel with great views"
some other reviewers said this place was average, passable. I'd call it slightly better than average. Patty at the front desk staff was very friendly. based on other reviews, we didn't bother with the breakfast, drove up the road to DD instead. room was clean, everything worked, I found the bed very comfortable and slept like a log, altho my husband would've preferred a more firm mattress, and there was plenty of parking. it's located right in the cute downtown Bucksport, with shops, restaurants, movie theater and the Riverwalk right behind it, with fantastic views of the 2 Penobscot River bridges and Fort Knox across the way. the suspension bridge and Fort Knox are lit up beautifully at night. such a great view to fall asleep to. and even tho it's on the main drag in town, our room on the river side was quiet, except for the occasional person jogging or walking their dog on the riverwalk path. it's only 25 mins N to Bangor and the airport, 25 minutes SE to Ellsworth, and only another 30 or so minutes beyond Ellsworth to Bar Harbor, Acadia, etc. I think you could find a much more luxe hotel closer to the coast for much more $, but you could do much worse than this little place.

"Very Pleasant"
Very clean, reasonably priced, no-frills mom and pop motel. Good location for exploring Maine and the town of Belfast is charming. I'm thinking about going back to Maine this summer and I'll be happy to stay at The Gull again.

"Always a great place to stay."
Our room was ready when we arrived at 3:30PM. When we got to the room we found that we had been upgraded to a river view. We hadn't asked for an upgrade, they just did it. I was a nice surprise. The room was very clean and has a coffee maker with coffee. There aren't very many casino hotels offering free in room coffee. The rooms are well priced. Shopping is only a short drive on the highway. The restaurant and snack bar are both reasonably priced and the food is good. The buffet is only open on the weekends. We stayed there July 16-19. We will stay there again.

"Friendly staff; quiet, clean"
Decent place for a couple of nights. Bed was terrible in the first room we were given (super soft; both of us have back problems) but luckily we they had another vacancy and we're accommodating about switching us to a better bed.

"Nice quaint country inn."
Quaint country inn. We had an excellent room with separate seating area. Amenities were great including indoor swimming pool and one of the best breakfasts at a hotel. Close to restaurants and grocery store. We will definitely go back.

"Great family hotel in a pretty spot"
We stayed here for one night on a long drive home at the end of our vacation. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we loved our very large "family room," which had three queen beds instead of the usual two beds and pull-out couch. The double vanity located in the room itself (instead of the bathroom) was also great for a family of five. The hotel is outside of town, just off the highway, in a pretty spot with a meadow next to it where they've mowed a walking path for guests to use. The hotel has more character than many chains -- interesting furniture, comfortable living room type lounges with games and books, etc.

Belfast is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Belfast, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Belfast hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
