I’ve stayed at the Astor many times over the years and have always found it to be lovely. This particular stay, it seemed as if none of the staff that I know were working. Despite my many visits, I was not recognized as a frequent guest, which was a little odd. The hotel is super convenient and walkable to most sites in Athens as well as many great restaurants and cocktail bars. I do highly recommend the Astor Hotel

Has a nice lobby. Walkable and close to shops and restaurants. Bathroom has ample toiletries. Easy to check in but staff who took us to our room and brought our luggages was a bit entitled to get a tip. Beddings had a couple of stains and the bed scarf was unacceptably dirty with stains and hair. Room not sound proof. You could hear the noise from the street. Breakfast buffet restaurant had good food and stunning view of the Acropolis.

I would not recommend booking a stay at this hotel. The front desk staff were rude, and the overall experience was disappointing. I needed to make changes to my original reservation, but the hotel refused to accommodate the request, stating they were fully booked. However, when I checked online, there was still availability. As a result, I had to cancel my original reservation and rebook, which caused me to lose the full amount I paid. Even though Expedia offers a free 24-hour cancellation policy. Expedia claimed they had to follow the hotel’s policy, and despite multiple attempts to contact both Expedia and the hotel, I was unsuccessful in receiving a refund.
