Property is tired and requires considerable updating. Putt golf is dilapidated and requires significant update. Overpriced considering its present dilapidated state. Staff are excellent. Less than hospitable first impression at check in but perhaps just an “off” day for our host.

Shangri-La Yanuca Island has evolved since I was there 30 years ago. The people are the same, beautiful, friendly, kind and amazing. The hotel however misses on a couple of things. Unless you are sitting in the lobby, there is no Fijian music played anywhere. In the morning at breakfast there is some lovely music in the Takali restaurant played by some Fijians on guitar but that is really all. Next there is no Fijian food unless you pay ridiculous prices to go to a show and even then it's mostly European food with a little Lovo through in. For me this was really disappointing. We come to see and experience Fiji, not eat Asian food or burgers and chips. A crayfish that you can buy in Australia for $40 costs $300 Fijian. Luckily we know people at nearby villages so went there to eat and experience all the wonder that Fiji has to offer. Shangri-La Yanuca Island needs to remember it's roots back when it was the Fijian Hotel and go back to offering a truly Fijian experience. Kava tasting and torch lighting are awesome. Just need more of this!

What an incredible stay for our first time in Fiji, we were welcomed ‘home’ from the outset. We had an amazing time here!! Staff were one of the biggest highlights - their genuine friendliness and happiness to help. Every single staff member will greet with a "Bula!" even if just passing by. Every request was accommodated with a smile and the interaction we had with each staff member was really positive and warm. Rooms were admittedly a little outdated but it didnt bother us as they were so clean and spacious. Housekeeping staff were top notch in keeping them clean daily and thought of the little things to make our stay comfortable which was so appreciated. Views from our Ocean View room were astounding.. I could look out the balcony all day!! Facilities were amazing. So many things to do from tennis, mini golf, horseback riding, cycling... swimming pools were huge and there were multiple around the property. Our toddlers LOVED the kids pool and would play there for hours a day. There were so many beaches around the property to swim in too and water was crystal clear!! The kids club was also really great but our kids were a little young to make full use of it. Restaurants and food were amazing!! We alternated between Takali Asian Restaurant and the Lagoon Terrace Buffet and the food was delicious in both. Huge selection and variety. The property grounds were huge and you could leisurely walk around the whole island. Well maintained with beautiful gardens. And the sunset views from the resort were breathtaking!! Overall, such an amazing stay here!!

The property was beautiful, well arranged, and had fabulous food at myriad restaurants. The service was at island speed but we got used to it as we relaxed and got into our vacation. Staff were very attentive and friendly though. Loved the snorkeling from shore and the availability of watersports on site.

Young family We recently stayed here and overall had a good time, with a few helpful things to note for families. Dining: All restaurants fill up quickly when it rains. Best to book at least a day in advance. The Asian restaurant was our favourite. The buffet was okay but very overpriced compared to other dining options. Room service is convenient but slow (plan for about an hour). Kids’ meals were good. Facilities: The pools are excellent—warm (29–30°C) and great for kids. The main pool is best for little ones, while the smaller one near the Asian restaurant is quieter. We were disappointed that adults aren’t allowed in the adults-only pool even when using a babysitter. Kids Club & Babysitting: The kids club is for ages 4+, and babysitting is $35 for 3 hours ($12 per hour after). You need to book at least 3 hours in advance. We had a great babysitter for our 1-year-old. Our four-year-old enjoyed the kids club, but one day he left and found us at the pool without staff noticing—so we didn’t feel comfortable using it again. Rooms & Services: They accommodated a late checkout to 2 PM, which was great—it let our one-year-old nap before the flight. Wi-Fi is very weak, so download any entertainment before arriving. Beds were comfortable. Other Tips: The spa is a nice area and the massage was average and expensive. Ask your taxi to stop at Four Square for water and mixers—it’s much cheaper than the resort stores.
