The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and polite. The room was lovely — I especially liked the kitchenette and the fact that it had both a living room and a bedroom without feeling overcrowded. The bathroom was spacious, and I loved the shower. Everything was clean and well maintained. When I needed a new iron and extra towels the next day, they were brought to my room right away. I was very satisfied with my stay and will definitely return. I’ll also be recommending this hotel to my friends and family.

The bathroom ceiling paint was cracked and peeling. The refrigerator worked very well and clean. Only one elevator was in service during my stay. I feel the Expedia reservation needs to do a better effort in clarifying which Hawthorn Extended Stay hotel is being reserved. There is an older property in Saint Clairsville, Ohio and a newer property in Triadelphia, WV. Saint Clairsville Ohio is 18 miles from the newer West Virginia hotel. Please be clear on future reservations. This location error seems to happen often

When we first arrived to our room just before 10pm, the air conditioning wasn't working. We discovered it had ice on it. We called the front desk, and they sent a maintenance worker. He immediately said that the air conditioning had been turned below 67 degrees and needed to be unfrozen. To be clear, this was the situation immediately when we walked into the room. The worker told me he could unfreeze it by using the room's hair dryer or using a "heat gun" that he could get. We opted for this heat gun, which he told us would be the faster of the two options. He came back and defrosted our air conditioner, finishing this process at about 10:20pm. He then told us to call the front desk again if the temperature hadn't improved in 30min. We waited the half hour, and the temperature hadn't improved. I called the front desk, and only then did the clerk offer to put us in a new room. We went to the front desk and stood there for a few minutes because no clerk was there. One eventually appeared, but he seemed to have no knowledge of what had happened. He also didn't apologize for the situation and didn't seem to care that we had been significantly inconvenienced. At about 11:15pm, we finally made it to a room with a working air conditioner. To top it all off, though, the air conditioner in the new was so loud that we slept with ear plugs the second night. This is the worst service I've ever received at a Marriott property, and the air conditioning situation was unacceptable.
