"Well Used"
Let me start by saying, the staff is what makes this hotel work. The rooms are well used and are in need of some tlc. Nothing major but they.are beginning to look a little tired and for the price definitely not outstanding. I expected more. This is a high volume tourist destination but not anything exceptional in accommodations. Again the staff were all exceptional. Our wait person for dinner went out of his way to assist and ensure my dietary requests were met. Front desk and bar staff were equally as friendly and courteous.

"Good hotel with nice staff"
Hotel let us leave one night earlier than planned which was so helpful to us. The only complaint is that they use 'reclaimed water' for their toilets which makes their bathrooms smell slightly unpleasant. But, the breakfast buffet totally made up for it! Those crepes were the BEST I've ever had. Very nice staff!

"Location & History Great--Staff, Not So"
We stayed at the El Tovar because of its location and history and were not disappointed. Within a few yards of the rim (not right on) so basically you walk out the front door a few steps and you are on the Rim Trail. Our room had a peek-a-boo view of the Canyon so it was nice. If you want a full on view with balcony then I believe the 4 suites are your only option. We love staying in historic places and know that this sometimes comes without all the modern conveniences and that was the case here. Other than the bellman and our cocktail waitress most staff were on autopilot and really didn't seem to care much about customer comfort/satisfaction. Power went out just before our dinner reservations on the first night. And they closed the kitchen along with any food options. Which considering the remote location and time was not out of the ordinary. However it is very strange that there are no back up generators. With todays ADA requirements one would think this would be a necessity for guests reliant on power or need to eat regularly. We were told no when we asked for a 30 minute extension on the 11AM check out time because we were waiting to be seated for breakfast (book all dining in advance and still expect a wait). When we did leave our room a little after 11 there were no housekeeping carts in sight on our floor. There is no designated parking for hotel guests, so good luck the area is very crowded. Glad we stayed once, would not return to stay at the El Tovar.

"Nice lodge to stay in Grand Canyon Village"
Pleasantly surprised by the room condition as I thought maybe there would be more wear shown because of the high volume of visitors. It was cute & neat and suited our purposes perfectly. We were in Willow building so it was very quiet there. We saw cleaning staff sweeping dirt in parking lots & busy picking up, impressive. They were helpful when asked a question. It was a bonus to be by the food court & our bus pick up for the Desert View tour. We enjoyed our stay there with our adult daughter.

"Cabin, 50 yards from the rim"
Lovely, traditional cabin just a few moments from the rim. The view was simply wonderful. The welcome at check in was, unfortunately, less so, and the staff's level of knowledge was also, surprisingly, very poor. Parking was also very difficult, but I guess there's little that can be done about that as demand will always be high. Overall, these were minor concerns - the absolute splendour of the Canyon is all that really matters and having it virtually on our doorstep was just fantastic. Highly recommended!

"Great view, very helpful staff"
I use a mobility scooter and was concerned about access. No worry. Reservations gave us a ground floor room with lovely view over the canyon. The gentleman who helped assemble my scooter at parking area and get luggage to our room was one of the nicest, most helpful I've encountered. Beds were so high he even found me a sturdy step stool.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
