I had the privilege of getting a balcony room on the 3rd floor and it was FABULOUS. The room was bigger than I had expected, but the bathroom was small, and felt in need of an update..at LEAST with the lighting. I know it's an old building, but, it was bad. The rest of the room was lit comfortably. The bed was comfy, but not as comfy as the beds I've had at a different (and lower priced!) hotel in Town. Pay for the charm, not for the comfort factor. My one actual "complaint", is that there is no MAP (other than the fire escape one on the back of the door) and the building is a maze! Other than that, the staff was kind, and helpful. It's always fun to stay in historical places!

This is based on the customer service we received. My partner and I had booked a king room for the night of December 26, 2025. We didn’t make it to Northampton due to the winter storm that hit New England that night. We ended up getting a hotel elsewhere as the conditions became too unsafe for travel. I called the Hotel Northampton to let them know we wouldn’t be coming and the first words out of the person who picked up the phone were we will still be charging you for the room. I replied that this was a courtesy call to let them know (someone else may have ended up in the same situation, in need of a place to stay) and that I knew I would not get a refund. She then went to hang up without even asking me my name. Needless to say, we won’t be planning another stay at the Hotel Northampton.

Location is about the only thing this hotel has going for it. The rooms are small and furniture is old and chipped and the pieces look like they were cobbled together from a tag sale. The staff pounds on your door at 10am to get you up and out. Classy.

Very nice place to stay. It’s close to everything: restaurants, shops, concerts. The only inconvenience is the loud heater/fan that we had to turn off in the middle of the night and rather taking colder room temperature than the noise.

Television failed on arrival with an array of white dots on the screen. I Goggled and the solution was to replace the TV Later the entire television went offline with the message “no signal”. The evening was not pleasant without any media. I expected better
