Great location and reasonable price considering what other hotels charge in the area. The hotel is little old but it seemed to be renovated to modern standards. Parking is really easy and it costs only $10.

Disappointed

This hotel had an 8 star rating. I was disappointed. The location was great. The price was good but the property /room is very run down and need of major renovations. It is the attention to detail that was lacking. Not enough outlets, no outlet next to the bathroom counter, we had a suite and if you closed the bedroom door the room got hot as no vents. The bathroom was remodeled but not well thought out. You have to stand in the shower spray while adjusting the temperature. It had a soap dispenser in the shower but you needed two hands to squeeze hard enough to get soap to come out. I did get housekeeping to reload and it did solve the problem. The table in the room well used so the finish was off. The housekeeping staff was nice and did a nice job. Front staff was good.

Good location within walking distance to many spots in downtown Santa Fe. The area is quiet and safe. The room is simply furnished but has all the essentials, except laundry facilities. Friendly and helpful staff.

The front desk attendants were lukewarm. They were not helpful with knowing about events in advance to alert hotel guests. The day we were to check out by 11:00am, there was a Pride Day Parade on the street the hotel was located. We could not leave because road was shutdown. I asked attendant how long the parade would be and she said, “I have no idea”. I asked how this could be working in a Santa Fe hotel and she responded with, “I’m not from Santa Fe, I live 30 minutes away”. That told me the management wasn’t good at events happening in Santa Fe that might delay someone from leaving and incurring an additional night stay if a guests stays after 11:00 am.

Problematic

The two positives are that El Sendero is ideally located near the Santa Fe Plaza, and that the hotel is reasonably priced. The negatives are that the hotel has no bar. There is an Asian restaurant attached to the hotel, but only offers beer and wine, drinks-wise. The hotel has two floors, neither of which has ice. Ice is available, but only at the front desk, which is kind of a hike away. There is no elevator. The staff seemed overworked. The manager was inhospitable.
