Not kid friendly. Every seat and picnic table outside was men smoking pot and drinking. Entire place smelt like a skunk. Not opposed to people smoking, you do you. I just don’t want it around my kids and don’t agree with it being done in public family areas.

Check-in was easy, the caretaker was right there to hand over the key, and gave us a brief history of the plantation, which has been around since the 1820s! The air conditioning worked very well and that's a blessing since we visited in August. Husband and I explored and walked the property more than once, trying to imagine it in its different eras. My only issue was the breakfast sandwich in the freezer, which was a solid block of ice. Maybe, put the sandwiches in the freezer the day before guests arrive...

The toilet was leaking and water kept running on the floor.

I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. The online photos and description were extremely misleading compared with the actual condition of the property. Upon arrival, the lobby was inaccessible and check-in had to be completed through an exterior window, despite the hotel advertising amenities such as a continental breakfast in the lobby. The first room was unacceptable. After about 20 minutes, I removed my shoes and discovered the carpet was wet. More concerning, the window did not properly lock and was being held closed with a yardstick. When I requested another room, an employee initially resisted moving me and incorrectly claimed I had already been in the room for an hour. I was eventually moved next door, but the second room also had serious issues, including holes in the bathroom door and wall, no trash can, and extremely poor water pressure. The bathroom sink barely produced enough water to rinse a toothbrush. Most disturbing were the cleanliness concerns. We discovered what appeared to be dried blood on the actual pillow beneath the pillowcase, and the following morning I noticed what appeared to be a small drop of dried blood on the bathroom baseboard. I cannot confirm what either substance was, but both were extremely concerning. I stayed because I had prepaid. Had I seen the property’s actual condition beforehand, I would never have booked it. The property did not reasonably match its online representation, and I would not stay here again.

For the price, the room was fine. Breakfast was ok. Staff was polite.
