The hotel itself was actually really good and we enjoyed our stay. However, just a heads-up if you are driving yourself: the check-in process is a total cluster f*ck. If you aren't paying for valet parking, they will not let you park or even idle in front of the building to quickly go inside and get your keys. It makes unloading luggage and checking in incredibly stressful and complicated. Nice place overall, but they really need to fix how they handle arrivals for self-parking guests.

This place is okay...nothing special I would not recommend. my main problems with this place: 1. only one of the two elevators was working, there was a printed sign in the lobby that they were waiting on repairs. The printed piece of paper was yellowed and wrinkled looking like it was in place at least a year, this sign was not put up this weekend. Having half of the elevators down meant sharing one tiny elevator with 7 floors of people and staff. We had to walk up 6 flights of stairs most days. Again...this was not a new sign that the elevator was broken, it has probably been down multiple years. 2. They never cleaned my room 3 days no cleaning, you have to put a sign out when you want room cleaned...I put sign out at 8AM came back at 10PM...it was ignored everyday. I had to ask for new towels and they acted like I was putting them out. 3. This one is weird...my room was right next to the emergency exit, not that i planned to use it, but that is where they stored the two housekeeping carts. so they have two carts blocking the emergency exit at all times of day...seems dangerous. Way better places to stay in the gas lamp area that are all similar price.

I had a smoke detector die in my room and start beeping around 8 at night. I called the front desk, they said maintenance was gone and they didn't know what to do. They first told me to take the battery out. I refused as I was not physically able to climb on the chair and reach the detector. Furthermore, it seems like a poor idea to instruct your guests to remove the batteries from safety equipment. I called again and pressed for an answer. They said there would be someone coming at 11 pm who could assist me and that they would call. By 11 :15 no one called so I rang the front desk again and they new staff had no idea what I was talking about but thankfully came to resolve the issue after about 20 minutes. No one offered to comp anything to address the issue. The first person I talked to was rude and unconcerned. The room itself was dirty, and paying the 500 dollars a night that I did, did not meet the standard I would expect. The front desk was often unmanned, the rooms were outdated, and plain the shuttle service offered by the hotel was not described to me at check in and they attempted to charge me for parking 3 separate times despite me having no car and writing as much on their check in forms. I stayed 2 nights and would consider it a disappointing experience at a quarter of the price. Shout out to the evening shift guy who came to help me. Everyone else, ranged from rude to indifferent. Indifference is inoffensive at 100 a night not 500.

Our primary concern was that the area around our room was undergoing renovations, making it somewhat untidy. Additionally, the young woman who checked us in was openly chewing gum, which we found unprofessional and distracting.
