Sun Mountain Lodge

"Beautiful mountain top lodge."
The lodge is incredible; gorgeous, clean and sits atop a mountain with a spectacular valley view. The activities and facilities are excellent, the restaurants are good but the staff is ho-hum. With the exception of the concierge, they were not very friendly. Still, I highly recommend a stay here.

Hotel Rio Vista

285 Riverside Ave, Winthrop - Map
I had never been over the North Cascades or to Winthrop. To celebrate our anniversary my husband surprised me and took me over the North Cascades and booked a 4oom for us at the Hotel Rio Vista. Our room had a deck over the river so we could listen and watch the world go by. It was a perfect weekend and I would recommend the hotel!

"Old fashioned but clean and welcoming"
Winthrop Inn made us feel like we were personally valued by the smiling, helpful staff -- including the housekeeping team, who had made everything spotless! There is a small pool, a hot tub, comfortable beds, and a nice picnic / barbecue area in a meadow by the river -- but what I loved most was that it felt like visiting a loving aunt. The price is very reasonable, the location is close to a grocery store and a quick drive to the center of town. Nothing fancy, but cleanest hotel of our vacation, and the manager greeted us like old friends. I'll be staying here again, for sure.

"Recreation equipment available"
Tubes for rent, a beautiful pool, and the mini-golf course are some of the reasons we selected this motel when myadult son and I thought my nine-year-old granddaughter would be accompanying us. She would have really enjoyed this motel! However, she got sick and couldn't come with us. We had some unexpected but unavoidable delays, so we arrived in Winthrop just in time for a late dinner. By the time we reached Abby Creek, it was dark. We had to leave the next day, so we really didn't get to use the recreation opportunities, unfortunately. For families who could stay a day or two, this hotel would be a great choice. For us, our room was clean and comfortable, but the lobby area is too crowded a space to accommodate guests for breakfast. The breakfast food variety was good and we were early, so we got a seat at a table, but there were only three tables and a breakfast bar with stools. Many people who arrived after 8 A.M. couldn't find a place to eat and just getting through the line and past those who were seated was difficult. Good food, but not a pleasant experience.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
