Not up to Holiday Inn Express standards!

I stayed at other Holiday Inn expresses throughout the years and this one did not live up to the names standards. Where do I start? For starters, it smelt like Indian curry inside the hotel, I found a long hair on my bed, the wallpaper was from the 80s, the TV was not a modern smart TV. It was from the 2010s and was not able to stream Netflix, the carpet was from the 80s the faucets were from the 90s

Felt shabby. The toilet ran until you removed the tank lid and manually fixed it. The shower had two bottles of conditioner and no shampoo. The regular thermostat had a sign saying it didn’t work and to use the window unit, which made an awful inconsistent rattle/scraping noise that made it hard to sleep. The lighting was inconsistent inside varying between full spectrum and soft warm lighting. I asked our last night at the front desk if they had a corkscrew for a bottle of wine and I got a weird response asking if it was only the one bottle and that I wasn’t going to be rowdy (I’m a 50 year old guy staying with my wife and 14 year old daughter). Staying closer to Madison when visiting my family will cost more and have more traffic but I imagine it’s worth it over this place. I won’t be staying here again.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had requested extra pullows and they were waiting in our room at check in. Breakfast staff was extra helpful. Bathroom showed signs of wear;showerhead full of buildup and sprinkler rusty. TV had adhesive residue on the front. Bed and pullows were comfortable. Free breakfast selection good. We felt safe. Located by fast food, gas, and a cheese store.

I enjoyed my stay. Nice staff and clean room. My only issue was that the ceiling/walls a little too thin. I could hear people in hallway and upstairs too clearly.
