The room’s outlets didn’t work. We had to get an electrician to bring a strip so we could charge devices and run the hair dryer. The room smelled musty and the A/ varied between frigid and hot.

The only nice thing about this hotel is the view of the lake — unfortunately, that’s it. The rooms were old, poorly maintained, and not clean at all. Definitely not comfortable and far from what you would expect from a hotel stay. Service was terrible. Staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, and basic requests were either ignored or handled very poorly. There was no sense of hospitality. The food was awful. Low quality, badly prepared, and completely overpriced for what was offered. Overall, this hotel relies entirely on its lake view while failing in every other aspect. I would not stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at the Lakeside Inn this past weekend. I have both positive and negative comments to add. First, the positives. The inn reminded me of something you would find in the Catskills years ago. The inn is charming with its large porch facing Lake Dora. The staff were all pleasant and the service good. Apps and drinks on the porch (Shrimp and Salmon spread) were great. Breakfast (is not free) was well priced and delicious. The pub with live piano music was enjoyable. iel Now for the negatives. Our room was on the second floor, apparently over a function room. There was a holiday party being below us that made our entire room vibrate until 10 pm. The shower water temp was sporadic at best. The water would be hot and then go cold without touching the handles. Overall, our stay at the Lakeside Inn was enjoyable.

On Dec 25, they told us at 10:17 am that breakfast was over at 10:15. We were departing to Miami by car and asked where we could get coffe and they sent us to a closed coffee shop. We did not encounter, in our four or five exchanges at the desk, a pleasant person or one willing to give information. They all need a course in. Civilit, specially during Xmas time.

"The rooms are clean, but the smell is quite uncomfortable, which could make it difficult to fall asleep. The hotel staff, however, is very welcoming. I understand that it’s a historic building, but the renovations, at least in the room we stayed in, could definitely be improved—100% better—so that guests feel more comfortable. For that reason, I cannot recommend it to anyone. On a positive note, the grounds around the property are well-kept, and the location is ideal if you plan to visit the downtown area."

The Lakeside Inn is a throwback to times when class and elegance took precedence over fast and furious. Our room was beautifully made up and we had a view of the sunset and the central grounds. The main lobby takes you back to the early 1900's with wood floors a beautiful fireplace, piano and multitude of comfortable chairs to sit, talk, read or just have quiet time. Why not 5 stars? The walls are thin, as we could easily hear the neighbor's conversation, and the water pressure was very low in the bathroom sink. The drain was also very slow. We brought these issues to the attention of management, and they immediately notified maintenance. Would we come back ABSOLUTEY YES!

Our room was fine and the bed was comfortable. Since it's a historic inn, we knew not to expect modern amenities such as mini-fridge or coffee pot. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom. The closet was huge which would be more useful for stays longer than our single night. Breakfast in the Beauclaire restaurant was tasty. We plan to return to Mt. Dora and will stay at the Lakeside Inn again.
