Very good location, good value for your money. Had everything you need.

Altho no staff on duty we were sent a code to enter bldg & our room for 1 extra nite in Cluj once our room was ready early afternoon. Luckily we'd been staying just down the block and we were able to leave our luggage there until then as no staff on duty but we're able to talk to a helpful woman on the phone. Tried to make coffee w machine in room but cold water came out- had time to grab a brkfst in little dining room before leaving for our flight . Room compact but comfy and very nice bathroom, shower . The courtyard below the rooms very dirty but don't know if part of hotel?

Escala is a great hotel. Small, with excellent service by owners Adrian and Claudia. What I especially liked is that they provided me with customized suggestions for what I might like to see in town, something that Google Maps or Claude would not have been able to do. I hope to return to Cluj and if so will certainly stay at Escala again.

Hampton by Hilton is a modern, relatively new hotel situated within walking distance from the city center. The room was spacious and clean. The mattress was medium firm. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was adequate. Parking costs 60 RON per night. The only thing I missed was a shoehorn in the room. When I mentioned this at reception they did not bother. All other staff were welcoming and helpful. No restaurant on premises but there is one really close, with decent food and good service. I recommend using taxis throughout Cluj/Kolozsvár; they are really cheap and fast.
