Beautiful hotel and pool. The grounds and activities were fantastic. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful, however the valet men had a bit of an attitude and were not helpful at all.

Staff friendly, early checkin was helpful, room clean and well designed, bathroom nice. Free parking and quiet, away from downtown State College.

The beds were absolutely terrible. Couldn't get a good night's sleep. People were doing fires right outside that smoked everybody out. Overall. Just disappointed. Check-In was terrible. Expedia said that the check-in hours were till 5:00 on Friday, which is incorrect. It's 4:00 . Therefore, we could not get our key and had to contact the after-hour person(who was great)who talked to the host to try to get our keys which took over an hour to get that taken care of and then they would not let us stay an hour later. Plus you have to return the keys to drop off box by 10:00. Not be out of the place at 10:00 and it is 10 minutes away from the Dropbox by car. This was supposed to be a peaceful break which turned out to be extremely stressful. The nice part is that they did have free roaming deer that have babies which was nice to see.

This is a self check in facility with no front desk. The room was newly remodeled, decorated very nicely and very clean. A mini refrigerator and kitchenette were nice amenities to have available. The food at the lounge was good. We had ordered the elk burger and chicken wings. We had fresh cut fries with both orders and were more than we could eat! The two ladies that worked as waitress/bartender were very nice and did a great job! The coupon in our room for buy one sundae get the other free was a “must use”. Delicious and huge! The train does travel through the town across the road from the lodge so you will hear it. For us, it wasn’t annoying.

Many pros and cons- Pros- located directly across the street from Penn State with restaurants downstairs and all around the property. Bathroom was very nice with a great shower and even a bidet. This is a great room for couples. Cons- there is no elevator and the rooms are on the 3rd floor, so not great to have heavy suitcases. Also the only parking is a garage 1 1/2 blocks away. The room was small so not great for families. The pros outweigh the cons as the location was great and the room was comfortable. But this is not a great choice for everyone. If you are traveling lightly and want to be near Penn State this would be excellent.
