I thought Gladstone would be a hole, but I loved the hotel, the staff was really nice and the location was great for driving to the local shops just over the hill, to the beach and to the Auckland Hill Lookout. I wish I had time to see the botanic gardens. The room was very nice, had a really great kitchenette, and I loved the SmartTV, but I couldn't find any pay TV channels. I definitely want to come back here!

I was on the road to bring a car home from Cairns to BNE, and was looking for a room to break my journey at roughly 600km for the day; which was my sole reason for picking Gladstone. The room was comfortable, spacious and it was so nice to have a shower in a such a well appointed bathroom. The hallways to your rooms have to be the widest I've ever known in a hotel & speak well of how much the guest's comfort and convenience has been thought of.
The staff were very nice to deal with & I appreciated the travel directions in the morning from the lady on breakfast duty in the buffet restaurant.
The only minor point that I would offer as a constructive criticism only, is that you have to go through about 3 fire-doors from the car-park to reach a lift, which then takes you down to Reception. When you are tired & dusty from the road, a bit better signage directing you how to reach Reception would be appreciated, picky as that sounds, it is really the only minor fault I could have found with my stay.
I would be very happy to stay here again.

Kellys Beach Resort is off the beaten path, tucked away in a residential area. It is a lovely short walk to the beach, and the people I met walking were very friendly. The resort is a 10 minute drive to Bargara (a small beach city with a beautiful little shopping district and more upscale hotels and a restaurant) and maybe 15 minutes to Bundaberg, a larger city with a mall, several grocery stores, etc. The resort is a short drive or moderate bike ride to whatever you may need.
The room itself was spacious with a comfortable bed and sofas. These are villa type rooms, so we had a small 'house' to ourselves with a covered porch that led to a garden area. The villas on either side of us were screened somewhat from our view with plants and wooden fencing. The porch had a table and chairs, and there were gas grills/bbqs very close by. The kitchen had all the dishes we needed and cooking utensils. The refrigerator was larger than a dorm size with a small freezer on top. There was a cooktop, electric, but no oven. I never used the microwave. The loft had a ladder and beds and lighting, but we never used this. Kellys Beach resort is what I call a 'do it yourself' place. If you stay more than 4 days, they will bring in clean towels, and if you stay more than 8 they will do a cleaning, but you do not get service every day, which was GREAT for us, but the only cleaning product we had was some dishwashing liquid. If we ever get back to Bundaberg area, we'll stay here again!
