I was surprised how great the hotel was compared to other 3 and even 4 star hotels that I had seen in other cities in the region, such as Istanbul. The hotel is not very close to the Republic Square but you can get there very easily in 5 minutes (taxi is very cheap, approximately $2). In general, I recommend this hotel.

I stayed in 2 hotels nearby priced similarly, and the Tufenkian was by far the better hotel in terms of space, quiet, comfort, breakfast and other amenities. A great value!
My room had a king-size bed along with a sofa and coach and table, plus a separate working nook and a hallway off the side where clothes could be stored in a discrete wardrobe. Great design.
I mostly liked the bathroom due to its size. Very nice to provide a large section of complimentary toiletry items for use if need.
One major negative about the bathroom, and which is also the main negative to the overall experience was the shower. A detachable shower head was provided for the bathtub. Yet translucent raised barrier above the bathroom rim only extended one-third of the way down the tub. It was impossible to take a shower without getting water (soapy water in many cases) all over the bathroom floor. The flimsy bath mat could not handle this problem.
This seems to be the result of a design flaw -- it's as if whoever designed this curious set-up had never attempted to shower in one or hadn't carefully considered what might happen. Whatever the reason, showering was an irritating experience because one had to to take extra, usually fruitless efforts to keep the water inside the shower area. Awkward and uncomfortable.
This shower problem was further compounded in my room by difficult calibrating the hot and cold fawcets. Water was often either scalding hot or chilly.

The hotel is perfectly located. The staff are wonderful. Pleasant and welcoming. We loved the cafe out front for breakfast and dinner. Great people watching. Once again the staff were outstanding from Hayk at morning breakfast to Nare at dinner time. A big congratulations to Jasmine who runs a fantastic hotel. We will definitely return and tell everyone to stay there.

The Golden Palace is a luxurious hotel in a beautiful location up in the mountains, where you can ski and enjoy the scenery. The sauna and pool were beautiful and relaxing. The musical group named the Armband was excellent, with a very nice jazzy sound. Nune and Anahid were wonderful, and all of the people in recption were helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.
