Fabulous stay, great room, food, polite and helpful staff. Highly recommended

Disappointing start, but improved with a room move The check-in experience wasn’t great. I had called ahead specifically to request a quiet room, but was initially allocated a room above the restaurant extractor fans, with a blind rather than curtains. Thankfully, the staff were helpful and offered to move me the following day, which made a big difference. The garden room was much quieter and a much better experience. The breakfast was good, but I was very disappointed with the restaurant service. Some local friends wanted to join me for dinner on the Saturday evening. Despite the restaurant appearing very quiet, we were told it was fully booked and unable to accommodate us. With a party of five, we ended up having to sit in the bar and eat with the food on our laps, which really wasn’t ideal. I believe we had 2 children in the party it was more about that. It was particularly disappointing as my friends live only five minutes away and could potentially have become regular customers. Unfortunately, this experience didn’t give them the best impression of the hotel. On a positive note, the swimming pool was good and the facilities were clean and well maintained. Overall, my recommendation would be to invest in upgrading the bedrooms and improving the food and beverage offering. At this price point, I would expect the quality of the rooms and F&B experience to reflect the nightly rate.

Lovely breakfast and lovely staff

The Duke Hotel was lovely and in a great location. The restaurant served fantastic food and we ate there much more often then we have done in the past in other hotel restaurants. But above all the staff were absolutely brilliant. Professional but personable, and always willing to help with everything. The only slight negative was that the hotel had only 6 parking spaces so parking close to the hotel was not guarenteed. Despite this, I would highly the hotel and we are looking to go back there.

This place is a real gem and very well located - I had a tree house room which was awesome but I am sure all the rooms will be as good - the double shower in my room along with pebble floor just made the room extra special Food - awesome both breakfast and evening meals - fantastic quality and the evening meals were very reasonably priced STAFF - AWESOME from checking in, using the pool and especially the restaurant the team at this hotel are just fantastic! They made the stay even better!
