Turtle Beach by Rex Resorts

Courland Bay, Plymouth - Map
"Turtle turtle"
My friend and I had the all inclusive option, bad idea. I've been to other all inclusive resorts on other islands and this one was quite disappointing. The resort itself has so much potential to be better but I guess not enough work is being put in to the place. First off there weren't any type of activities no kayaks, sailing, not even a volleyball net and the tennis court there was out of service. They had snorkeling gear but one would have to pay extra, I thought non motorized activities were usually included in an all inclusive package?? The resort is in a secluded location of Tobago so if you do want to get away from everyone and everything you can. The ride into the livelier part of Tobago is about 20-25mins. The staff was ok, I wouldn't call them friendly but I also wouldn't call them rude. The only nice things were that all the rooms have ocean view, and there is an opportunity to see turtles come up on the beach to lay eggs, which we got to see and was pretty cool, right out of a national geographic special. And the beach itself was just ok. The food there could use some more local dishes (but I'm the type of traveler that likes to try food native to where I'm visiting), however, if you don't really "experiment" with food, the international cuisine they have was ok. The pool was decent and they have a kids' pool too if you have kids with you. I'd only stay here again if they upgrade this place and turn it into a real all inclusive resort.

"Not what it once was"
I have been hearing of the great coco reef all my life, but it did not live up to the hype. The room was well appointed, the beach well sheltered, and the staff very responsive. BUT- massive mosquito infestation everywhere, the breakfast buffet came no where close to hilton or hyatt (Trinidad), and the hotel has a musty smell at several places. Cant beat it for location, walking distance from airport, but will try another hotel next time

Kariwak Village Holistic Haven and Hotel

"Wonderful overall experience"
This hotel is a beautiful experience overall, with wonderful, friendly staff and very clean rooms, despite being in a garden environment. The occasional insect gets in but I believe that may be due to the cleaning staff leaving the doors open when they clean to circulate the air. My MAJOR annoyance is that 'cutoff' time that hotels with a breakfast package implement (not just this one, and especially caribbean hotels...) of 10 or 1030 am.... have they not heard of brunch, especially on a weekend? It it SO jarring to be on a island for a festival or party time, stay up late, then have to DASH out of bed like you're in school just to be able get your meal. And the food is EXCELLENT at this place so it hurts even more when you miss it.

This is our second GBR experience within a year. The rooms are comfortable and the ocean view rooms literally put you at the ocean's front. Love the sound of the breaking waves.Staff were friendly, helpful and accomadating. Great breakfast with a spectacular view of Stonehaven Bay is an amazing way to start the day. Waves beach restaurant compliments your time on the beach as well as provides great nightime dining. Certainly will be back!

"Warm Welcome"
Nicholas and Troy was very polite and informative. I recommend providing details of the a la carte breakfast and having staff with clean aprons to assist. Housekeepers should also be in uniform. I recommend changing the shower gel. There was shampoo but no conditioner. What happened to the pool towels? Pool should be cleaned everyday as well. It seems like management has changed. This was my 4th stay. I don't think i will be back.

Castara is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Castara, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Castara hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
