Take this place at face value, Riu is usually a low costing all inclusive yet they uphold a certain standard at each of their properties. Excellent service from staff for the most part, the food is good not great (buffets only have such a high ceiling), and the drinks are plentiful (considerably watered down, but that’s fine — just order more, it’s free). Multiple pools for your desired vibe, and the water slides were a great surprise of fun that added a lot to my trip. This is my wife and I’s third time staying at Riu— and since our ideal vacation is pool, beach, drinks, food — it works for us every single time. Will continue to consider Riu, and will recommend this one for a safe spot away from the downtown nonsense of Cancun.

This was our first real vacation in 5 years and an 8-year late anniversary trip for ourselves. I booked it through Expedia and had a great experience. Itineraries were emailed separately with confirmations and everything went smoothly. I got this trip for about 1800 a person and have seen it gone up as high as about $2,400 during peak season. It was about a 40-minute drive from Cancun airport. The hotel is a fairly new Rio and is absolutely beautiful! The grounds are well maintained daily. The staff is super friendly and speaks very good English. Mostly the food and drink is decent and fresh and neither me or my husband got sick during the stay which was a plus. It is in Costa mujera so it is definitely out of the city so it's a more relaxed Vibe if that's what you're looking for, but we absolutely loved it. The beach is long, both North and South so you can have daily walks I booked a partial ocean view room and they upgraded us to a full ocean view which was very nice for our anniversary. Our room was a corner room, it was I think a bit bigger than usual. So very spacious and clean with no mold stains, dirt or bugs anywhere and are air-condition and fan worked perfectly the whole stay. You can walk to the pools in like 3 minutes from pretty much anywhere on the property and the Beach is another 2 minutes away. Overall we had an amazing stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for an all-inclusive adult only resort!

This all inclusive adult only resort gave my partner and I a well-rounded experience. The food was mostly great, buffet option was always available and had a good variety of options, and the specialty restaurants were amazing. Be prepared to wait at some of the specialty restaurants if it’s a busy night, my partner and I got to go close to opening at times and we ended up not having to wait at all during the night. The pool and beach area is lovely and kept clean. Amazing drinks everywhere and even in the room. If you care about a gym during your stay, the one they have has limited equipment, dumbbells or up to 20 kgs, assortment of machines, one cable system, and some cardio machines. Easy to get around the space, overall good experience.

The property was very clean, there were several dining options, and the service was good. I was disappointed however, because it didn’t feel like a five star even though it’s rated five star. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, and the lack of toiletries and amenities was evident. No bar soap, lotion, shower caps, or extras. And we had issues with our room phone so calling front desk was difficult. The property was clean and well maintained; but the dining was also okay in flavor, variety, and quality. I’ve heard RIU hotels are great, however RiU Latino was not up to its 5 star ranking. I would give it 4 stars however.

The only problem with this hotel was the beach, we noted human fecal matter in one area so we move to the other side, because we thought it was an isolated case but it was the same problem on the other side of the beach, so that was it for us, it really ruined our vacation, no more beach, so I don’t know if it’s a septic system, sewage or swimmers problem, but they know and nobody does anything to clean or even a sing to let people know about this issue.

I loved the area and the activities provided. I do wish there were more options of food. More local Mexican food would have been great! And also music wise I love the Mexican culture, the Spanish culture. I wish I had more of that Spanish bachata, salsa, reggaeton music, etc

Staff were friendly and enthusiastic. The rooms and facilities were clean and well-kept. The food was not bad and there were lots of selections, but we experienced some mild stomach upset the first few days especially with the buffet. Best to stick with the food prepared fresh at the cooking stations. A la carte dinner restaurants were good. Beach was okay, wasn’t able to swim for too long since there were seaweeds. They had a truck cleaning it regularly and daily though. Entertainment was good too, there were tons of activities during the day, live band and shows at night and a disco/club open late. There were also parties in nearby sister resorts with free shuttle transport. Overall, the resort was great and we enjoyed our stay.
