Travelers Rest IS NOT your traditional hotel. If you want the lavish amenities of a pool, gym, office, or a TV, this is not for you. If you're adventurous, plan on spending days out, or exploring all that Pittsburgh has to offer, Travelers Rest IS for you. Travelers Rest is a place that you can enjoy the common area, make new friends, sleep and restart the next day. Room and Bathroom were clean, management is beyond helpful. Free breakfast and only public street parking.

I know there have been a lot of negative reviews about this place but we were willing to gamble because it was almost half the price of most other hotels we were looking at. We wanted something within walking distance to the David L. Lawrence conference center. This place was a wonderful experience for us from beginning to end. I must of messaged them at least a dozen of times with messages on Hotels.com (but you could also text them) to ask questions and they responded very quickly answering everything! The check in process was easy as it was just a text message and link. When we arrived, we had a working code to get through the doors, but there was also other doors at the main entrance for guests if the code did not work. There were 2 people at the front desk that were very helpful and answered a lot of questions. We also did not have bedding for the pull out couch and they quickly grabbed us a bag with fresh linens for it. During our stay, we Door Dashed a dinner and the driver did not show up at the lobby but downstairs in the residents parking lot. The kind person at the front desk helped us out by running downstairs and getting it for us because I have trouble with stairs because of my back. The apartment complex is half residents and half hotel stays. The residents were very pleasant and friendly and helped to open doors (because I was using a walker). Check out was a breeze and valet parking was always quick.

The guest ahead of us at check in had the penthouse reserved for Friday and Saturday. They didn’t show on Friday so their stay was cancelled by hotel staff with the penthouse being given to another guest. One staff member at reception desk to accommodate all guests. Where was staff??? The lobby was full with guests waiting to check in. Staff member at the desk was extremely pleasant and helpful. Never overwhelmed. After finally checking in, we proceeded to our room. Upon entering the room, it gave an instant “newly abandoned” vibe. The air was musty. The room had an odor of old cigarette smoke and wet dust. The decor screams early 2000’s. The lone desk attendant was willing to accommodate us with another room but we kindly declined. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel.

I stayed here 3 nights and housekeeping never cleaned my room. It wasn't a big deal, until I realized someone stole my Airpods out of my backpack that was in the room. They are not very responsive in trying to get the issue resolved, but did admit a cleaning person took them home when I shared where they were located.

I didn't have any major problems with my room I couldn't solve by going to speak to the front desk. But items such as: Not having a refrigerator, telephone not working were bit of an annoyance since those are some amenities that "should" be prepared upon check in. Whether or not "remodeling" was part of the problem ( as what I was told ), I just felt my room was a little unprepared, but nothing I couldn't work with. Overall, I'd give my experience about a 7/10.

Great location and very clean hotel. Close to lots of restaurants and quick uber ride to downtown area.
