"Perfect place to relax in luxury"
My daughter and I wanted to go somewhere where we could relax in a peaceful setting, lie by the pool, eat great food and be spoiled. Alila Ubud ticked all those boxes and so much more. The staff were friendly, polite and caring. The hotel facilities were beautiful. We stayed in the cheapest category of rooms but it too was perfect for us. Each morning (because I wake up early), I was able to sit on our balcony, work on my laptop and watch monkeys and squirrels in the nearby trees. The food was another highlight. The breakfast (that was included with our package) was the best that I have ever had. An amazing selection of breads, pastries, smoothies and juices, all brought to your table. You could then select from a menu that changed it day. The portions were small but that was perfect because they encouraged you to try as many things as you liked. The complimentary afternoon tea by the pool once again was a real treat. The dinner menu was also perfect. I won't rave on and on but we will certainly be visiting Alila again.

"Very nice hotel, on a manicured property."
The stay was very nice, however the location is not ideal, unless you are ready to catch a ride to anywhere. There are two local restaurants which can be reached by walking on the beach, very dangerous to walk on the side of the road as the walk path has large open pits, which are very difficult to see during the night.

"Nice hotel right next to the beach "
The hotel area looks really nice as you arrive. We stayed in a double room with plunge pool. The room is good with water, fridge & bed - bathroom is really good. The pool to the front is good for dipping or sitting by but do note it’s not private. Breakfast is nice & had right by the beach. I will say that when you are around/near the beach even at the hotel there will be locals selling stuff. It can get very frustrating! Free shuttle bus is really useful. Staff didn’t know to much about getting around/sightseeing. Overall though a good stay. (We used a private driver to get around to waterfalls etc - highly recommend ‘Lovina bali driver’ on Facebook who was great & is useful to use in the area, tours or further travel)

"Amazing elephant experience "
I stayed in the Mason lodge for one night. I was upgraded to the Garden room and I was able to experience the elephant chauffeur. An elephant picks you up and takes you to the dinner hall. I also did the nighttime safari ride and the elephant bathing. It was a very beautiful experience. The animals are well cared for. I do want to note that when the animals aren’t working, they are chained by one leg and many of them have welts/marks on the area that the chain goes on from the animal pulling on the chain. There are prominent signs displayed that inform that the government requires that the animals be restrained if they are not under supervision. That was the only thing that bothered me - however they have a lot of elephants and there isn’t a big barrier between the public and the animals - chaining appears to be a safety precaution - I also witnessed an elephant willingly slipping its foot in the chain for a food reward. I just add this for people who are concerned about the animals’ welfare. For the hotel itself, it was lovely and the staff are very helpful. I ate three meals on site and breakfast and lunch are the best deals. I was still full from lunch when I had dinner and I ordered two appetizers which were very small. The food was very good though. I recommend this hotel. The animal experiences are amazing. The guest has full access to the park and the elephants.

"tranquil & stunning place but really $$$ food "
This hotel is exactly as it looks in their photos. It blew us away. The villa had a lovely plunge pool with infinity edge and we spent more time in there then we did in the main pool. The view was stunning from everywhere in the resort. We got an hour long couples massage which was lovely and a must do I think. Other than hiking out in the heat however, there isn't much to do other than swim, eat and nap. The staff are 10/10 eager to please. The room was beautiful and peaceful but the floor was strangely slippery and the shower sprayed water onto the floor so that was difficult to manage. All in all we loved the room and found it really romantic. We had no drama with towels or bugs or the monkeys. This is the kind of place that's hard to forget. What made us decide that we would never come again was the prices of the food. The cocktails were so average they wouldn't pass as cocktails in Australia, and on our last day they charged us $10 (100 000r) for a latte while we waited fo a taxi, so that was a bit of a sting, since typically you can get them in Bali for 5000r. The dinner was expensive, really small portions and we both thought the mains were average. Room service was very average. Their desserts are unreal however and breakie was decent. This is really sad because other than that this place is lovely.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
