"Fantastic ryokan experience with hot springs."
I absolutely loved my experience at Taketoritei Maruyama as a solo female traveller. I made sure to booked my stay with half board and was given an 11-course kaiseki meal for dinner with a western breakfast. I enjoying tasting new foods which were presented to perfection. Please note to book your stay with food, as previous reviewers experienced problems getting dinner and breakfast when they booked without. Staff were super welcoming and helpful, they picked me up and dropped me off at the train station for free and helped with my heavy luggage to my room. I was treated as an honoured guest and made to feel at home. The lady at the counter was overjoyed when I gave her sakura senbei as a gift when checking out as the Japanese don't tip. I booked the private onsen and tried the golden and silver water which relieved my sore muscles and feet after spending 3 days in Tokyo, and 4 in Kyoto and Nara. I have a foot tattoo and disclosed this to the member of staff who told me the rules of the traditional hotel and gave me my yukata, I was not allowed to use the public onsen (which was fine as I already knew that the Japanese associate tattoos with the yakuza!). I totally embraced the experience of Japanese bathing culture and my stay at the ryokan was definitely a highlight of my trip to Japan! ps. apologies for the lack of photos my file size was too large.

One of the best onsen hotel that we have ever stayed in Japan. I would recommend everyone to stay at least one night of accommodation in onsen hotel such as Sumiya Rokyan to experience Japanese onsen and the traditional Kaiseki dinner. Value for money!

"Close to the airport , 5 min walk ."
Overall good hotel , 5 min walk from airport. Room is simple , clean bed and bathroom. Massage chair is an extra perk to relax you after a long flight. Could be a bit noisy if ambulance or motocycle are passing during night , but overall I would recommend this hotel. I stayed for one night.

"Good onsen."
Went there on Sunday for a 2 day stay. The hotel's public spa was way too crowded. So we only used the hotel's private spa which was good, much less crowed, but without an outdoor pool. It has a steam sauna room though. Room was spacious with a view. Dinner was kaiseki and served in our room. The first night's kaiseki dinner was disappointing. It was great to look at but lacked flavor. The Kobe beef was over cooked and smeared with too much sauce. Totally destroyed it. However, they redeemed themselves with a wonderful kaiseki the second night. Earned them an extra star. I researched transportation prior to going there but got confusing information. Once I got there, I found 2 easy routes. Go to Sannomiya station, take bus at bus stop M4, and you'll find yourself in Arimaonsen. However, those buses don't run frequently. Alternatively, take the subway to arimaonsen from sannomiya station. This route require transfers, but the transfers are simple, involving just walking across the platform to another train. No chance of getting lost.

"Service benefitting of its name"
Grand was indeed the first word that come to mind when you reach the hotel lobby. From the bus terminal, we called the hotel and a shuttle bus came to pick us up shortly. When we arrived at the hotel, 5 staff were waiting out in the cold to welcome us. Without asking, the staff loaded our luggage and brought it up as we checked in. Following which, a staff brought the luggage up to our room which overlooked the pool and garden which was breathtaking. A lady then came to take note of allergies and served our kaiseki which exceeded my expectations. We then hit the awesome onsens (level 9 has a view better appreciated in the day, b2 more cosy with garden view). Going back our futons were ready and we had a great rest! Only let down was breakfast. It was downright horrible relative to the dinner we had and most of the buffet trays laid empty even at peal periods. Otherwise check out was just as smooth and you can deposit your luggage and tour the town before departing arima onsen. One of the highlights of any trip for sure!

Sasayama is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Sasayama, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Sasayama hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
