"Nice location "
Guess I am not cut out for the eco lodge experience. Way too many ants and large iguanas for me to relax. Add a fair amount of flies and mosquitos and a handful of cats that no one seemed to mind workers petting without washing afterwards and it spelled disaster for me. Literally ants all over food and any foot left too long in one spot. Wired thing is that no one else seemed to care. Ps I'm sure I have brought a few back to Colorado with me. Yikes.

"Bungalow close to Nosara"
We stayed in the bungalows. The queen sized bed was more comfortable than any of the other pricey hotels we stayed in during our time in Costa Rica. The showers in the bath house had far more water pressure and heat than the other expensive places we stayed. The property is beautiful and rustic. They have recently expanded the bar and restaurant offering and are still working out some kinks but it was delicious. For the price, this was my favorite place to stay!!

The owners, Ralph and Andreas are extremely nice, patient and passionate about their work. They don't go after money but instead go out of their ways to meet your needs. The environment is very nice. We saw monkeys, dragons, etc. A hidden gem!

"Nice hotel"
Hotel was very nice, staff was very friendly and check in was smooth. Hotel was great and rooms we're clean and it was a great value. Only strange thing was the hotel was pretty much empty except for us and it's a three story hotel but I believe that is because they just changed management and are starting to advertise it to international travelers.

"My favorite place on earth!"
If you're looking for a typical all-inclusive super convenient resort experience like you have had in Cancun, Florida, etc, this is not it - and that is why this is my favorite place on earth! There is not much happening in Playa Negra, as the town is a few miles down a dirt road from the paved road and not on the way to anything, really. There are maybe 1 or 2 restaurants on the main road, along with 1 or 2 pulperias and a liquor store. There are a few other establishments, but nothing really noteworthy... The 'hotel' itself is a group of individual bungalows with different amenities offered depending on the type of room you book. We have 3 young boys (youngest is a 1-yr-old..) so we opted for the A/C suite, which happened to be the very one we stayed in last time we were here. Next year, we will request #11 and #12 as they are adjoined by a shared kitchen! The bungalow itself is perfect. Yes, there are ants, no denying that. But, a quick chat with Juan at reception solved it as he sent the groundskeeper out to spray the ant piles around the outside of our bungalow. We saw a few after that, but never really thought about it again. The beds are comfortable, there is a safe and a small fridge in the room. The room is clean and we really felt at home here. The restaurant is reasonably priced and the food is very good. The icing on the cake is the staff. EVERYONE we talked to genuinely cared about our experience and did what they could to ensure we were happy! Stay here

"Charming hotel, walking distance to beach"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mundo Milo Eco Lodge. It is definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. If you are looking for peace and quiet, want to get away from the tour group crowds, and be near the beach, then this is your place. The owners and staff make your stay extra special, and you are treated as if you're part of the family. Rooms were spacious, modern, and comfortable. We had A/C, a large fan, and a mini-fridge, as well as some dishes, silverware, and glasses, should we need them. The bathroom was large and very modern. The restaurant on site was excellent! Lieke and her staff offer an excellent selection of dishes and can accommodate meals to meet your dietary needs. They also have a very tasty Sushi Night on Tuesdays. A copious breakfast was also served every morning, which included fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, juice, tea, coffee, bread, eggs, gallo pinto (Costa Rican rice & beans), etc. You can walk to the beach in about five minutes. It's very secluded and you won't see many people on the beach. You can also walk to other beaches during low tide for good swimming and snorkeling. Lieke and Michiel were extremely knowledgeable about the area and were extremely helpful in giving advice, directions, etc. Because their lodge has just five units, they are able to cater to to the needs of their guests. This is a hidden gem and well worth the drive.

"Nice hotel, close to the beach"
The hotel was great and right on the beach, just a short walk on a path through the jungle. Only bad experience was there seemed to be a leak coming from the roof. We believed it to be from the rain, but the staff disagreed saying it was from the AC being on too long. After raining a second time, the leak started again and unfortunately got the bed and my boyfriends phone wet, and the staff was not very helpful with this. Otherwise the staff was very friendly and overall the stay was pleasant! The food and drinks were also very good. Quick drive to town for restaurants and shops. The hotel offered us bikes to use for free, and there are surf boards to rent as well. The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all.

San Juanillo is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in San Juanillo, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your San Juanillo hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
