Clean, comfortable, cozy room; inviting interior and decor; reasonable rates at the time of my stay; convenient location for shopping, dining, recreation. The gentleman who checked me in was stellar: kind, friendly, respectful, professional, efficient and helpful. My checkout experience, however, was the exact opposite. I checked out late, around 11:30, and did phone the front desk, albeit at the last minute. And I fully understand and appreciate that guests need to be out of the hotel by the standard checkout time of 11:00. However, I was moving somewhat slowly due to not feeling well, so I was harangued by the housekeeping staff on duty, who stood by the room door from approximately 11:00 until I had myself and my belongings out of the room. They have a time-constrained job to do, I know, but I was not being suspicious, attempting to steal anything, doing anything illegal, being unreasonable or purposely "squatting." The harassment continued as I made my way from the second floor to the front desk: One of the two female employees at the front desk came in the front door as I was resituating my belongings in the open nook area above the front desk and stopped to stare/glare at me, not once but twice, doubling back after starting to walk toward the front desk. It was a bizarre, unsettling and menacing initial encounter with this female employee, whose name I did not bother to catch. Once I got to the front desk, this employee was perfunctory and anything but kind or friendly.

Dirty room non smoking room smelled like cigarettes, stains all over the carpet, banged up old furniture , not very clean overall, old bedding. Sign in room said $100 charge for any spills and smoking. Worried..notified front desk that the carpet has many stains and already smells of smoke. She said they know and have been too busy to clean the carpets. Then I said honestly this was the dirtiest room we had on a crosscountry trip. She said next time go down the street and stay at the Hilton, maybe that would be better for you. No point in talking further, rude staff, breakfast was cereal and some other cold stuff. Sign posted-You can ask the front desk for a Jimmy Dean sausage sandwich from the freezer, they hand it to you like your asking for too much. Reviews were 8.0 , weekday stay, paid about $120, felt like a 6.6 should of been $79 or less. In Custer stayed at Bavarian inn, cost less and was beautiful, clean and a real 8.0.

Everything was clean but not updated, which was fine. Added to the charm of the place. Kind of like staying at your grandma’s house. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast, though, was disappointing. Great location.

Staff was pleasant, the lobby was very welcoming and homey, and the grounds were nice. The rooms however were dated, the mattresses not the most comfortable, and the carpet was a bit soiled in spots and stretched out. Breakfast was very basic. It's an affordable low-frills convenient hotel near some of the most gorgeous scenery in the Black Hills.

The rooms were fine, pretty standard for the price. The friendliness of the service left something to be desired. It felt like there was a morale issue at the hotel. May not have really felt it was that much of an issue, but our fridge was cleaned out of our food in the middle of the stay. $ wise it wasn't that much, but it was the principle. If you are value conscious and nothing else is available at the price point, probably going to be ok.

Stayed 4 nights. Breakfast was ok but wish there would have been some fruit and perhaps muffins. The shower head was very forceful, not gentle. Could not walk to eat but there were places to eat close by to drive to. All in all it was a very nice place to sleep while visiting all the sights.

The room at this inn was decent. But the staff were not friendly and it felt like they thought all the guests were thieves! Everything had a fine do $250, except the extensions cords, that was only $25. It was labeled. You also had to ask for one of the biscuits. Would rather they didn’t have them instead of having to ask for it! They Perkins pancake house is also closed.
