Overall, the experience was good, understanding that it sits comfortably at a solid 7 out of 10. The staff truly stands out: attentive, proactive, and respectful, without the uncomfortable pressure for tips that you sometimes encounter elsewhere. Our family room, which included two bedrooms and two bathrooms, was spacious and clean. Housekeeping came daily and consistently did an excellent job.
It’s important to note that this is not a RIU top-tier property. The hotel facilities have seen better days. While everything functions as expected, some areas feel worn and could benefit from updates. Food is abundant but not exceptional. Among the dining options, the steakhouse restaurants offered the best quality and were the most enjoyable; Olé was our favorite among the walk-ins.
One positive detail worth mentioning is the free transportation between this hotel and the Riu Palace Bavaro. Visiting the Palace Bavaro gave a clear sense of the RIU quality level we were originally expecting, which helps put this property into context.
The hotel offers a good variety of activities and a clear separation of atmospheres. There is a lively area near the main pools and beach for guests seeking a more energetic vibe, and a quieter section on the opposite end for those who prefer a calmer experience.
We don’t consume alcohol, so we can’t comment on the bar offerings. For non-alcoholic options, Pepsi Zero was the only zero-calorie soda available.
