The grounds are beautiful… the staff wasn’t too bad. I must give and shout out to Ricardo he was amazing. Overall I didn’t not enjoy this resort. The rooms were dirty I changed rooms like 3 time for the condition and despite that,they couldn’t accommodate by upgrading my room. They kept moving me around in the same building. They decided to make it up was to give me a small bottle of cheap rum and some tshirts and reservation at one of their vip restaurants. I guess that counts for something. Not much to do and the food was absolutely horrible. I will not be going back. Worst resort experience ever.

Definitely not coming back ever again. We celebrate our wedding in this hotel, and the experience was tragic. Our room wasn’t cleaned after the getting ready, the staff wasn’t helpful at all, our room smelled like tobacco, the water came without pressure, the beach towels were never available, they are only interested in money and not give any good service at all. We had a pretty bad experience here. Don’t go.

Great hotel, the food was excellent, the amenities and the room was very clean. We went to another hotel the previous month and this one was definitely the best of them. Highly recommend if you are traveling with family or alone.

Occidental Punta Cana was OK, but far from the best we have experienced and far below what the pictures present. The specialty restaurants were good, but the buffets were disappointing. If you like bacon and sausage for breakfast, this is not the place for you. No bacon, and "sausage" was various forms of hotdogs. The pool was generally dirty (unvacuumed and floating scum in areas). This was partly due to the swim up bar that was usually surrounded by semi-drunk people who were spilling drinks and who knows what else. Towels were a big problem. We only had 4 clean beach towels all week for two adults. It was the 2nd day before we got a towel at all. My biggest disappointment was that many of the listed amenities did not exist or were only available to membership levels that are not available on Expedia. There simply was no gym, even though it is listed. There was no hot tub with public access, even though that is listed. Kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing are listed, but that means going to the neighboring property and paying. My family and I take a Caribbean vacation just about every year (40+ in the last 35 years). Occidental Punta Cana was not horrible, but it was far below other places that we have stayed in Punta Cana. My wife's general opinion was that they were always more concerned about saving a buck rather than ensuring the best experience for their guests. We got a great deal on the price, but that doesn't always result in the best vacation.

The resort itself is beautiful—no doubt. It’s right on the beach, and the beach is clean. Every night they bring out a bulldozer to clear the seaweed, and I appreciated that. The rooms are also super quiet—you really don’t hear anything from the outside, which made for peaceful nights. Now… the food? Terrible. If you’re on a diet or trying to lose weight, this might actually be the place for you, because you’re not going to want to eat much. But if you’re Dominican, or just came here hoping for authentic Dominican food—don’t count on it. No tres golpes, no queso frito, not even the right kind of salami. Fruit options? Only watermelon, pineapple, and passion fruit. No mangú, no variety. You’d think an all-inclusive would have you covered, but not here. Drinks were in plastic cups (yes, even the beer), and most of the time you had to get them yourself—there was barely any catering or service. It took forever to get drinks, and the bar staff felt overwhelmed. I’ve been to other resorts like Lifestyle, and they do a way better job with both food and activities. Also, the first 3 nights our AC wasn’t working. We had to tell the front desk three times before anything was done—and only after we asked to switch rooms did they finally fix it. Room service also wasn’t included, which makes no sense for an all-inclusive stay. I’ll say this: the grounds are beautiful, it’s peaceful, and the beach is really well taken care of. But the food and service need serious work. I lost weight

The property was old, outdated, and dirty. The air conditioning was broken and we had to be relocated 3 times before finding a suitable room. The food in the dining area was very limited, the pool was very dirty, and the bathrooms were dirty and brokendown. This should not be labeled as a 4 star resort, it's more like a dump. I would never book this place again. Stay away.

First thing was we’re supposed to have four rooms together ended up getting separated first two days no hot water and then after that all the pressuring on buying stuff they want to have these people on top of you to buy stuff that was ridiculous every time you turn around somebody in front of you trying to sell something to you

The hotel overall was good. The a la carte restaurants were really good. The buffet was decent but seemed to decline over our week stay. I guess we were always able to find something to eat though. The housekeeping was definitely subpar. They didn’t even show up two of the days. The other days they didn’t clean very well (yes, we tipped them well). But they did give us whatever we asked for (extra water, beer, towel, etc). Beach was pretty nice. They did a great job cleaning up seaweed. There were a ton of vendors that didn’t want to take no for an answer a couple of days, and other days they walked away as soon as we said not interested. They drinks were pretty good. Not too strong and not too weak. Most of the staff were super friendly and happy. They were very helpful and accommodating with my daughter with a disability. Pools were very nice. Perfect temperature for us. And they were clean. The buildings were definitely outdated but still maintained well. The rooms (other than poor cleaning) were nice except for the patio doors. We were in a ground level room and the patio door locks were pretty poor quality.

Only one buffet open mostly all day. Nothing 24 hours. Have to pay for room service. Towels and sheets all had some sort of stain on them. Can’t make reservations to the restaurants day of - mostly only the next day. The restaurants also are never full so I’m guessing this is more of a staffing issue. Nice beach however and foam pool party was good but it also started over an hour late.
