I truly enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Staff was incredible. Rooms were clean and service was top notch. I would recommend lowering food and drink prices but happy hour was reasonable.

"Beautiful hotel and impeccable service."
My daughter and I could not have asked for a better hotel, staff or beach. The staff was knowledgeable, polite, attentive and friendly, so were the owners, with whom we crossed paths several times, which means they are "minding the business". I am already looking at dates to return next year!

"Beautiful Hotel!!"
This was our first trip to Costa Rica in early July this year and we could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Diria! From the moment we arrived our experience was awesome. Check in was quick and easy Our room was perfect overlooking the pool on the other side of the street. Each night we met new friends in the bar and Luis the bartender took great care of us remembering what we liked to drink. In the morning there was a sweet older gentleman named Manuel that always greeted us with a smile and made sure we had everything we needed . We were so happy with this hotel that we are returning for two weeks this October. We have recommended the Diria to several of our friends who can't wait to plan their own trip there! Pure Vida! We'll see you in a few weeks.

"We love RipJack! "
We love everything about Playa Grande, always so happy to arrive and sad to leave. The construction as RipJack this year was a little annoying in the earlier AM hours, but love it regardless!

"Quiet, romantic boutique hotel"
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely perfect. The staff, in particular the manager Enrique, was absolutely wonderful in helping to make our stay more comfortable, including helping us get to our room early (we came in on an early morning flight), arranging strawberries and champagne delivered to our room, and taking care of all of our questions and needs. The rooms are clean and well taken care of, and the pool and grounds are beautiful. The beach is a short walk away along a private path, and the private beach entrance was exactly what we were looking for to relax and enjoy our stay. The breakfast was awesome - fresh fruit, pastries and jams, and then our selection of hot-cooked breakfast. The staff were all-around stellar -- we have never met such friendly, accommodating and lovely staff who wanted to make our stay great. The location was also good - right in town, easy to walk around and explore, but still secluded and private. We would definitely stay here again.

"My favorite place on earth!"
If you're looking for a typical all-inclusive super convenient resort experience like you have had in Cancun, Florida, etc, this is not it - and that is why this is my favorite place on earth! There is not much happening in Playa Negra, as the town is a few miles down a dirt road from the paved road and not on the way to anything, really. There are maybe 1 or 2 restaurants on the main road, along with 1 or 2 pulperias and a liquor store. There are a few other establishments, but nothing really noteworthy... The 'hotel' itself is a group of individual bungalows with different amenities offered depending on the type of room you book. We have 3 young boys (youngest is a 1-yr-old..) so we opted for the A/C suite, which happened to be the very one we stayed in last time we were here. Next year, we will request #11 and #12 as they are adjoined by a shared kitchen! The bungalow itself is perfect. Yes, there are ants, no denying that. But, a quick chat with Juan at reception solved it as he sent the groundskeeper out to spray the ant piles around the outside of our bungalow. We saw a few after that, but never really thought about it again. The beds are comfortable, there is a safe and a small fridge in the room. The room is clean and we really felt at home here. The restaurant is reasonably priced and the food is very good. The icing on the cake is the staff. EVERYONE we talked to genuinely cared about our experience and did what they could to ensure we were happy! Stay here

"This place has the buzz of a younger crowd"
I am guessing the young, energetic staff mostly cater to a younger crowd but they took good care of this old guy including an early breakfast on my day of departure. The place has a nice vibe. Surfers are bound to find fellow riders but everybody is made to feel at home.

"A little bit of Paradise "
this little boutique hotel was so lovely and had everything anyone could ask for. Just a couple of minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the beach area you would walk into a calm and quaint homelike atmosphere. Off our room was a huge tiled patio with a hammock and a table and chairs where every morning we open our door there was coffee ready and waiting for us. The staff could not have been nicer with breakfast served every morning they always had huge smiles on their faces and ready for conversation . Hector gave me yoga lessons by the pool a couple of mornings. Luis and Mariam the owners came by and were very helpful in suggesting tours and where to go places. 2 min walk to beach and great restaurants. Can't wait to go there again as we loved it!!!!

Playa Negra is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Playa Negra, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Playa Negra hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
