Older hotel but nicely updated. Very clean. Room was spacious. We arrived at midnight my key was instantly available with no wait. Very thoughtful. Very pleased with the stay.

The staff was great. We had some sleeping bags get terribly wet the staff allowed us to use their dryer so we could dry them. Also, they let us know when the dryer was down so we could swap the sleeping bags and get them out when they were done. Furthermore, the room was cozy and clean.

If you’ve ever been to Murdo, this is a star in the small town. The room I received was clean spacious and very neat. The towels were excellent. I would stay here again when I come through Murdough the staff was very helpful. I had some issues with my motorcycle and they were very helpful in figuring out what to do.

This hotel is very wonderful! Very accommodating and quick check in. Tim was amazing and took the time to tell us about the different places to eat in the area. VERY nice man. Will definitely stay here again if passing through!

Clean, comfortable place with some solid character

The american inn is a simple, modest, cinderblock building that's been decorated with a down-home touch that speaks to pride in the area, and a willingness to support other businesses in this small town. From the wagon wheels under the main front arch, to the creative cattle-brand artwork in the halls, it feels like there's more to this place than just a clean, well-run business to these folks. The rooms were clean, and everything in our room looked to be custom-built by someone who knows their way around some carpentry -- simple, but comfortable and built to last. The usual amenities were there (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and you can have trouble finding those in properties that cost way more). The decor was definitely a page from the owner's own book, the classic El Camino out front and the other vintage project cars just show a bunch of style and a bit of wry humor. I'll also call out that the mattresses had nice, zippered protectors on them, and it was all hardwood floors, both of which go a long way in making me feel like the owner cares. I'd stay at this place over one of the big chains any time.

Nice quiet stay

Stayed one night, room was very quiet, bed was comfortable and everything was clean. Went to the gas station around the corner for coffee in the morning.
