Hotel Hell

The hotel room did not at all justify the price. For $235 per night I expected a lot more and based on the pictures and description I expected a nice suite. However, what we found was carpet fraying and coming out of the floor, all lamps were damaged, the wall paper was falling off, bathroom was dirty in the tub and around the corners, there was a tripping hazard as the bathroom floor was not at the same level as the rest of the floor. The back "patio" was plastic chairs and plastic table where a neighbor would come through the broken fence to fee their cat. Then a racoon would come to eat the cat food. It was interesting to see that kind of wildlife just walking by us without caring we were there. They do not provide housekeeping, so when we needed our towels cleaned we had to hand them over. It took all day to get new towels so we could bathe. Also, we had to take out our own trash to the garbage can outside the room. The lid to the trash can was not secured. Overnight, wildlife got into the cans and got trash all over the ground. So every morning we would walk outside to trash everywhere. I do not recommend this place and I wish I could get a refund. The price didn't make any sense for these accomidations.

We love this quiet, little inn. It’s extremely affordable for how nice it is. You’ll also get the true Pacific Grove experience, less touristy than Monterey.

Would not stay here again until it is extensively

The room we stayed in (#102) is in need of extensive maintenance. The bathroom had several poorly made temporary patches to wall coverings and tile. The gas fireplace worked one evening, and then never again during our stay. Furnishings and fixtures were worn and showing from lack of maintenance. Bathroom door rubbed on tile floor making it difficult (and noisy) to open/close. Windows could only be opened or closed by reaching through a hole that someone else (not us) had cut through the window screen.

Beautiful stay in a beautiful location. The area was quiet and felt very safe. The interior was a bit old and had its share of scuffs but nothing that made our stay feel inconvenient. We loved this place and would definitely come again.

The property is listed as a luxury suite. This cannot be further from the truth. You first walk into a foul smelling room, sofa stains, carpet is worn, torn and dirty. Don't dare take off your shoes! The wallpaper is peeling off the walls, the light sockets won't hold your electrical plug, the sink in the "kitchen" clogs and takes 5 min to drain. The refrigerator makes loud noises, the fire alarm repeatedly went off and on all night. The windows open, but the screens are broken, the shower and jet tub is gross. There is such a large hole in the carpet going to the bedroom, that causes you to trip. My husband's pajama pants went missing. As you sit on the couch and try to look past everything I just mentioned, the foul smell, think wet dog, continues to get stronger and stronger, that you can't escape it. The amount we paid for this place was ridiculous. Only benefit of staying here, was it's close proximity to Asilomar Lodge. We escaped this hotel room and hung out there. Oh and lastly, what in God's name were stuffed in the "pillows"?? Lumpiest, hardest, worst pillow I've ever laid my head on. Stay AWAY!!

Nice place, but needs a little upkeep

The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were not dirty, but we noticed at least a couple of bugs and a spider in the room. The windows were left open when we got into the room. The screens were closed, but there were little windows in the screens that were left open as one of the locks on it was broken. This is likely where the bugs came in. There was no AC in the room we stayed in, but it was nice and cool in the room and the heater worked well. The shower was also adequate, but the shower curtain was a little too short. Overall, it's a good place to stay, but I wish they would address the above items.

Would draw more people if hotel /rooms were updated. Also if they served a continental breakfast as most of the surrounding hotels do for same price. Bed was in need of replacing as it listed and dipped to one side.
