"Lovely hotel on the beach. The staff was great!"
The hotel was clean, in good condition and the staff could NOT have been nicer. The food was good. The island is very nice and the local people are friendly and helpful. There are buses and vans just outside the hotel that go to different parts of the island. The fare is the equivalent of $1. It's cheap enough. You'll save lots of money by not taking taxis all the time. If you can get a reservation, go. You will not be disappointed.

"Hit and Miss"
This is an attractive, well maintained hotel that caters mainly to families. Service was very inconsistent. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Bar staff often did not know how to prepare drinks and often ignored me while I stood there watching them serve everyone else. The breakfast buffet was full of variety and very good. The seafood buffet was totally under-whelming and over-priced, so we did not eat supper at the hotel again. We had tremendous meals outside the hotel. You do need to take a bus b/c unfortunately this hotel's location does not have places to eat or shop that are reasonably within walking distance. Our room was in the older Plantation section (the original building) furthest from the beach and pool. The room was clean and otherwise OK. I missed not having a balcony though. The meandering 'lazy river' pool is very nice, but unless you have a room alongside it, there is nowhere to sit. The only poolside seating is at the main section of the pool by the restaurant. This section filled up very quickly early in the morning by families with small children, so there was never any space. The beach is small but has sufficient trees for shade, and we were usually able to find space. Swimming is not possible directly in front of the hotel since the water is very rocky and full of green algae. Walk to the left towards the Sugar Bay hotel or to the right towards the Hilton and swimming is lovely at these spots

"Beautiful beach, great snorkelling right in front."
Beautiful beach, great snorkelling right in front. The beach has plenty of palm trees for cover which is a nice option to an umbrella, it gives it character. The renovated side is far superior to the older section! Quite and we found it was mostly retirees, nice for a couple looking to relax, not a party spot. The staff are very friendly and helpful...upon checking in we were given an upgrade for our honeymoon at a great price!!

"Husband's 40th Birthday"
I loved The Soco Hotel. At first we were going to book with Accra but Im sooo happy that we went with Soco. They were very nice, professional and accommodating. I didn't tell them it was my husband's birthday but when we did they made sure no one forgot that it was. Michelle helped to coordinate our stay and we will never forget it. We loved all of the staff. I fell in love with Sheldon the Bartender, He was so nice, funny and informative. We will recommend this Hotel to everyone. Thank you Soco Hotel for making this a unforgettable experience.

"Wonderful location overlooking South Coast beach"
The location was wonderful, right on the boardwalk and overlooking the water. The view and beach were awesome. The building has a nice little pool and patio overlooking the water. The unit is spacious and laid out well. The disappointments were that it has not been maintained. Bulbs were out in both bathrooms, the drains were slow in the sink and tub, the showerhead for the tub was weak and the water never got warm enough.. The beds were either creaky or too hard to be comfortable. The A/C in the second bedroom didn't work correctly. In the kitchen, the refrigerator, which worked well enough was covered with rust stains which was really offputting. The kitchen had silverware, dishes and pans but no condiments, paper towels, trash bags or dishwasher soap. Often previous visitors leave these kinds of things behind, which we did of our supplies. We did mention a few things to the Soco Hotel staff (we didn't want to seem like all we did was complain) and they tried to resolve the issues very politely and quickly. They replaced the burn out bulbs immediately, gave us a trash bag and batteries for the A/C remote. However they couldn't quickly fix the tub showerhead or drain so that was left to be done after our departure. So you couldn't beat the location and I"m hoping we can stay again if they fix some of these issues. Andrew and Michelle from the Soco were extremely friendly and helpful.

Hastings is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Hastings, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Hastings hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
