"Fabulous hotel with incredible restaurant."
From the moment we arrived, after our GPS stressed us out by failing to get us to the right place, the staff stepped in and took care of us. The orderly, calm attention was just what we needed. It did not end at our reception, but continued during our short stay. The location is fabulous, overlooking the ancient bridge and picturesque town on the river. The room is spacious and has all the comforts one could want. And the Michelin restaurant was fantastic--what a great dining experience. We loved it!

"Super Hotel Setting but with Service Mishaps"
This hotel is by far the best in the region. The set-up is bucolic, right on the Douro with terraces for breakfast and dinner. The service is not always at the same level as the hotel however. We had issues with the air conditioning that was not powerful enough for 40C. In August, temperatures get to 45C, so not sure how they cope. TV sound is blocked too low, so you can't really hear it. We came back one night and there was no hot water. Took 1,5 hours to fix, but by then it was past midnight. After discussing with Manager the next day, he offered us a lavish dinner however.

"We loved this place!"
Marvelous place to stay. The Douro Valley is utterly beautiful. This hotel was wonderful in every respect. We enjoyed the tour learning about growing grapes and making port (15 euros/each). The dining was excellent. The facilities were superb. Loved having the outdoor pool - what a setting!

"Very special spot in the Douro Valley"
This hotel is beautifully situated on a mountain side vineyard with amazing views. We stayed here because our reservation at a larger hotel in a larger town fell through and we were running a half marathon in Peso da Regua. We weren't sure what to expect. Staying at this hotel definitely added to our enjoyment of the region. There are a few things that visitors from the US and other English speaking countries should know. First, this location is a bit remote - it is best accessed by rental car, which requires comfort driving on windy narrow roads. Second, the staff is delightfully welcoming and accommodating but no one spoke English. With a combination of high school French and perseverance we were able to communicate, but if you need someone there to be fluent in English, it could get tricky. They provide a yummy breakfast but no other meals, and there are no restaurants within walking distance. For dinner, you either need to drive or take a taxi to restaurants. Or, do as we did for a night - have a balcony picnic of cold snacks bought at a grocery in town with a bottle of Douro wine. I don't think we could have found a better view for dinner!

Douro Valley is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Douro Valley, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Douro Valley hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
