"Great hotel close to all amenities."
Our stay was great, unfortunately the weather at this time of year was not too good, windy and chilly.

Quick n easy check in & out with friendly reception staff. Plenty breakfast choice & gluten free toast available as requested. Good location on the promenade but a nightmare for parking with a 2 hour restriction and lack of spaces, Ok on a Sunday. Good power shower The room size was small but adequate but would have benefited from air con. Unfortunately it was in the middle / rear section of hotel and a little noisy from the back alley. Easy walking distance to ferry terminal, shops, restaurants. Plenty interesting places to visit: Peel Castle, Ramsay, Port Erin, Laxey Wheel.

Overall OK, although I have a complaint to about the girl (petition, burnet) that received me when I was checking in, as she was very unwelcoming. Not only she didn't even say hi when I got to the hotel, but she didn't even ask my name; it was earlier fir the checking and I wanted to know if there was a chance of my room being ready anyway, but she didnt even bother looking and sent me away. Unfortunately, she was there when I left the hotel, and again she didn't even bother saying hi, she just throw me a very rude 'I'm on the phone'. The rest of the staff was ok, Jake was very helpful on site and via email. The only other downside is that from my room you could hear a lot of cutlery noise, which got me up at 5 am my first night, although I was on a rth floor.

"Clean, convenient and great food"
I have just stayed here for three nights with two rooms with my son and mum. I was somewhat concerned after reading recent reviews but we needn't have been. Our two rooms were perfectly clean, adjoining as requested and very modern. The cleaning staff were very friendly and offered us ideas of where to go and what to do We ate breakfast twice here which was amazing and I don't think there was anything you couldn't have and we ate one night at the cavery which again was lovely. The bar staff and waiting on staff again were very friendly and helpful. Only gripe was the reception staff never seemed to acknowledge us as we came and went, a simple, 'good morning' would have been nice. Overall a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel easily.

"Beach view"
Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. In general the staff need a more pleasant demeanor, apart from the lady at reception who greeted us on arrival and was incredibly cheery and helpful as were the room service staff. We paid for an upgraded room at the front of the hotel with a sea view. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. I would have expected a hairdryer at the dressing table rather than a wall mounted dryer in the bathroom meaning we had to dry our hair in a steamy, humid room and the dryer was not really powerful enough. The floodlight at the front of the hotel was directly outside one of our windows and the curtains did not quite meet the wall to block the light at night so we had to use a chair to hold the curtain in place at the wall. Not a terribly interesting selection at breakfast but we were somewhat surprised to find that the bacon was burger flavoured! The same hotplate was obviously used to cook the burgers in the evening as for the breakfasts and could possibly have done with being more thoroughly clean down in between services. The breakfast room in the basement area was quite drab and dull but functional. Overall, the hotel was fine despite our niggles and we did have a comfortable stay just not the 4* stay we were expecting.

"The Sefton, Douglas, Isle of Man"
A very pleasant old hotel. The atrium and rooms overlooking it are fantastic and almost have a tropical vibe. Views of Douglas Bay from the front of the hotel are stunning. Harbour Lights restaurant is good. Reception staff can be "matter of fact" or even surly - we had problem with lack of hot water in our room which was dealt with very poorly.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
