Excellent hotel on the banks of the Zambezi river. Warm welcome, excellent facilities, good knowledge of the surrounding area, splendid meals. Friendly staff from the bag carriers to room staff to restaurant chefs. Only criticism was a long wait for a table in the restaurant on a not particularly busy evening.
Er, river view room provided about a 3 percent view of the river but very enjoyable stay.

I had read some disappointing reviews of this hotel's rooms, but we were so pleased with ours. It was perfectly located right off the main lounge, and was quiet, beautifully renovated to keep the original style, and lovely in every way. It was 102 degrees for two days out of our three night stay and the air conditioner worked perfectly! Staff was polite. Quality and care was elegant. Grounds were impressive. Food was delicious. Breakfast buffet was included and it was sumptuous and delicious. This was an absolutely wonderful choice we made to stay at this historic, old world elegance hotel.

Excellent service, wonderful, delicious quesadillas. Have lived in Mexico for 27 years. Terrific quesadillas, original. Pollo Loco and a bunch of Central American and Indian food of course, ditto for Chinese, and who could overlook pizza. Everything within walking disrance, some streets off to cars. Markets for tourist items which are sold even in Zanzibar, Nairobi, Uganda, etc., come from here but it takes effort to hunt them down. But once you do, there are hand-painted cloths, with my new favorite, pearl fowl. Saw the splendid avenues lined by aging Jacarandas, not in bloom but THERE.

The hotel is divided into two sections, the south and north wing. I was told as an after effect that the south wing is the cheap side and for sure it does not look like a five star wing. The hospitality is good but the facilities might need some remodeling. There are no microwaves in a five star hotel.
At $25 per person, I felt breakfast is too expensive.

We stayed here last week-end. We loved the grounds, old castle feel. The food was way above expectations, we had not planned on eating all our meals at the hotel but found the price and quality far above what we could have received elsewhere. The staff of wonderful! Our room was nice and clean but only had a tub, no shower. The mattress was old and we found it hard to sleep with two in the bed as we kept rolling into each other.
