The Opera Hotel was just as we expected from what we had read online when we booked. It was elegant, comfortable and well appointed. The staff was exceptionally helpful and English friendly. We had a native speaker with us, so that helped to bridge any language gaps. The hotel is located close to many things but not in the heart of the high-traffic areas, so we were able to reach activities easily, but when we were resting, it was quiet. The concierge was exceptional and each time we asked for a suggestion for a given activity, we were given a great option.
Our goal was to stay in a location that was not a "chain" hotel so that we could experience the local culture, service, foods, etc and the Opera Hotel was perfect for us. We traveled with our 8 year old child and the staff at the Opera was very kind to him as well.
For our first trip to the Ukraine, this hotel was great and well worth visiting.

"Friendly staff, great service,I went in off season"
The rooms simply are not large enough for a five star hotel. I loved the additional services that are available. The rates are very fair while it seems like the rest of Odessa is out for the foreigners money.

We had a marvelous experience at the Historic Londonskaya Hotel. We liked it so much that we up graded to the Marcello Mastroianni suite thanks to the wonderful personal touches and friendship of Gubanova Marina, sales and conference manager. She even invited us to see a Ukranian Christmas show at the hotel's theater that was not a tourist event. It was exceptional. The suite was like an elegant, two story apartment with bay windows, finished with huge beautiful curtains, The furniture was classy and very appropriate to the formal style. It had an impressive veiw of the Port of Odessa on the Black Sea. The Londonskaya has hosted many famous people including the presidents of Ukraine, Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Turkministan, and famous artists like Pavlova and the above mentioned Marcello Mastroianni.
