The hotel has good ambience, choice of food and courteous staff.
Toilet seats are old and need replacement.
I wasn't happy with their rate fluctuation. When I was about to book the hotel, they increased price. after two days it came down by 25%. People who book in advance shouldn't be penalized.

I have traveled and stayed in many hotels around the world. Leela Palace has got to be the best one so far in terms of service, security, and comfort. The only one thing that was not perfect was the food. Breakfast was great but the dinner and the couple of lunches that I had were not the best. They were not bad but just OK. If I ever go back to Bangalore, I'll definitely stay here again.

Decent hotel to stay with your family. centrally located near to station and other sigh seen places. Room was nice and clean with other facilities. Room AC was not so great but still ok. being slightly old property they have maintained well but they should upgrade some area like bathrooms, lifts etc.. Breakfast n other food is good in test and economical. Hotel have good well maintained swimming pool and garden. overall it was good stay but can expect some more improvements specially in room AC.

We enjoyed our stay at Goldfinch. The staff was excellent. They always went out their way to accommodate our requests e.g. - opening up the business center in the middle of the night.
The restaurants are excellent, great food and very clean.

This is my third visit to the Gateway. I really enjoy staying here as soon as I arrive in Mangalore. The swimming pool is always inviting, the staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the food is the best.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. This time staying we were upgraded, and the room had plenty of space and was comfortable. The bathroom is always clean and the shower works really well (powerful too). A hairdryer is in the bathroom for convenience.
The bar is pleasant and has a nice ambience. Good drinks selection if you want one. I prefer the buffet dinner to the formal restaurant. The food is always tasty and lots of it, with plenty of choice for both vegetarians and meat eaters.
The price for the food is also very reasonable.
The last two times I have stayed there has been a strong fish smell in the air when sitting by the pool. I don't know if this is seasonal - or it has now gone. But it was not here on this visit. It didn't bother me before, as you get used to it, but I know other reviews mentioned it. We stayed in April and there was no smell at all. The pool was constantly cleaned and not too much chlorine. Very refreshing after a long flight or a long car journey.
I recommend the Gateway to anyone coming to Mangalore.
