"Staff not so nice"
Front desk staff is not as kind as expected. We have been there several times and it's the same thing. Personnel is not kind enough with the incoming guests. Last time we arrived at the hotel there was very few people around. We found out that the Hotel had our room available since the morning, but they won't give it to us unit afternoon. Good hotels would give you the room earlier if available. "Caravelas Restaurant" is the opposite, they are doing an excellent job, the problem is with the front desk staff.

"Beautiful Property with a serene setting."
Although Forest Hills is not the easiest place to find, once found you will smile. The drive in will have you wondering what kind of mistake you made. However once through the entrance as the drive curves toward the building you will smile. A charming environment with a beautiful house. sitting a top a hill. The staff was amazing. The grounds well kept, and fruit trees greet you as you walk around. I found it to be a bit more of a bed and breakfast feel as you will not have a restaurant, or bar to sit at. However you are able to bring your own snacks and use the facilities in the house.

"Great staff, service and overall experience"
Loved the experience. The front desk were awesome and went out their way to accommodate me. There was a lady there to help with scheduling activities and excursions. Breakfast was great it! Make sure you ask for Lizano salsa for those beans and rice! It's so yummy. Beautiful pool. The beach is cool.

"GREAT HOTEL OVERALL!! "
We had a great stay there, the hotel was all inclusive including alcohol. I only had 2 small complaints and that is the room could be more updated and the food at the buffet really could be better! Also pass this on, if they put rice in the salt shakers it will keep the moisture away.

"Beautiful hotel away from the madness"
We wanted a quiet place to spend a relaxed weekend and Pumilio was perfect! The staff is incredible, the place is lovely and surrounded by lush vegetation. You can spend the day by the pool watching birds and iguanas, then order from a great selection of restaurants and enjoy the meal on your terrace. The breakfast was very good. Everyone has a smile on their faces and will go the extra mile to accommodate each of your requests. I love that's not in the middle of Jaco, away from the craziness but close enough to the beach.

"Nice hotel, an oasis in the middle of nothing"
Very nice hotel, interesting decor, pool with a waterfall, courteous personnel, good breakfast. The downside: there is absolutely nothing to do both in the vicinity of the hotel and in the whole town. However, if you have to visit the town, this hotel is a great choice

"Setting will not disappoint!"
Beautiful grounds and view, clean and spacious room (ours had a large balcony), best foreign bathroom I've ever encountered. Howler monkeys, gorgeous birds, and iguanas are right outside your door. Restaurant is serviceable (basic breakfast, delicious iced tea, and a kind staff member made a special herbal tea when my son and I got food poisoning) but we preferred the local restaurants and "sodas" for lunch and dinner (thus the food poisoning?). Staff was very accommodating about excursions, which we pre-arranged by email- we did the Curu hike, bioluminescent kayaking (AMAZING!), Isla Tortuga (great snorkeling, Spider Monkey Island, nice boat ride, SUP/ kayaking, yummy lunch, crowded but pretty beach, puffer fish swimming near shore!). The hotel also arranged Montezuma zip lining and called ahead to get info on the caves at Barro Honda. Our local guide, Thomas, was delightful, unmatched for enthusiasm and knowledge. We used the hotel as home base for day trips, including Santa Teresa/ Mal Pais. Pool is not huge but clean and nice. Hotel hosts a large variety of nationalities. Downsides- getting there requires traveling in roads that defy description (common in CR), terrible WiFi ("sorry, that's Costa Rica!"), no gym (and running on the roads would risk your life).

Caldera is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Caldera, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Caldera hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
