Peaceful Cottage & Cafe du Mont

Naldum, Nagarkot - Map
We enjoyed our stay at Peaceful Cottage. It was nice a quiet (which we appreciated after being in the cities in India and in Kathmandu) and we got a clear day, which meant the view of the mountains was fantastic. Otherwise the view was hazy, but it was still nice to sit on a lovely, open restaurant patio. The food was good, the room had AC and heating which was nice, the wifi was pretty fast, the bed was large and the bathrooms were good. The downside was that the bed was a bit stiff/bumpy, and the shower had someone else's gooey leftover soap bar and shampoo wrapper. The staff were really nice, and Caron goes out of his way to help you identify which hikes/activities to do for the day. You can tell he is very passionate about it! We appreciated his help. We would stay here again if we return to Nagarkot!

"nice rooms, clean, fresh hotel "
A very nice surprise to see the spaciousness of the room. Would still appreciate some more detail in the how clean it can be, but for the price it is a fairly well kept hotel and room. Helpful and super friendly staff and great location. Lovely rooftop terrace to relax. Thank you for the stay

"Lovely hotel; great place"
Hotel Tibet International was a great place to stay. It's in Boudha, the 'little Tibet' of Kathmandu, and is appointed in Tibetan furnishings. The rooms are clean, attractive, with aircon/heating as well as open-able windows, and gave us a great view over Kathmandu, They were also a welcome quiet retreat from the busy streets. Breakfast at the rooftop cafe was a great way to start the day, with a terrific view; good for getting bearings and hearing the early morning chants start at the stupa just down the road! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend it.

"Good value hotel"
We stayed at Hotel Friends Home for 6 nights. The rooms are simple and somewhat small but clean and include air conditioning. The Wi-Fi is serviceable. The bathroom includes a Western-style toilet and a good shower. The free breakfast buffet is delicious (other than the coffee) with a variety of Nepali dishes. Coffee, tea, and drinking water are all freely available at any time - the tea is very good! We spent much of our down time on the roof top, which has great views, a covered patio, and plenty of seating. Note, however, that the roof top is on the 5th floor and there is no elevator on the premises. The staff speak pretty good English and were helpful in booking a few drivers for us and in exchanging some currency. The hotel is in a convenient location in the southeastern part of Thamel, very close to several other hotels, restaurants, and ATMs. It is a short walk to the central part of Thamel, which has more shops and tourist-oriented restaurants. It is extremely easy to get a taxi just outside the hotel. While the hotel is located in a quiet alley, somewhat isolated from traffic noise, there was construction adjacent to the site during our visit (July 2017), which created more noise and dust in the area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Hotel Friends Home to others.

"Newer hotel with excellent staff"
This hotel is a newer remodel. It is a safe facility with security at the entrance. The room was nice. From the dining room, there is a large window looking into the spotless kitchen. Tasty food with great presentation and service. Good wifi service. Hot water, good bed and aircon. There are many restaurants/shops/pharmacies within walking distance. The staff has good English language skills, great attitudes and sincere courtesy. They have connections for tours, taxi, cell service, etc. Checkout billing was accurite and fair. Nepal was a good experience but its not the US. Be prepared for crowded, small, dusty streets. Close one eye to the problems and enjoy the history, culture and beauty.

Balthali is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Balthali, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Balthali hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
