I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an issue I experienced with my recent reservation made through Hotels.com. I booked a double room for two adults and two children. However, upon arrival at the hotel, I was informed that the reservation in the hotel’s system was for one king-size bed only. Additionally, the confirmation email I received did not clearly specify the room configuration, which made it impossible for me to notice the discrepancy in advance. As you can imagine, it was not feasible for four people to sleep comfortably in a single king-size bed. Fortunately, the hotel staff were very kind and provided an additional folding bed, which allowed us to rest for the night. While I appreciate the staff’s effort and hospitality, this situation should not have occurred in the first place. The staff apologized sincerely but explained that they were unable to change the room due to availability. It was clear that this was not an issue caused by the hotel staff, but rather a system or communication error between Hotels.com and the hotel. Unfortunately, this mistake left an unpleasant mark on what was supposed to be an enjoyable family trip. I have been using Hotels.com for over ten years, and this is the first time I have encountered such a problem, which is why I was especially surprised and disappointed. I’ve stayed at this location before, and although the rooms are clean, and it is mostly comfortable, the Internet service is not the best, television was sketchy, and on this particular occasion, I had an issue at midnight with people upstairs from me. Upon checking in, there was a sign that noted there was “no one available and thank you for your patience”, but I still had to wait for someone to get to the front desk before being able to check in. None of it was terrible, just not ideal.
