Would definitely stay there again
The staff at reception were extremely helpful and nothing was a problem. The situation of the hotel was perfect for access to public transport - so close to the ferries, buses and trains. A very enjoyable stay.

Mercure Windsor Downtown the best value
For an overnighter in central Auckland I always chose Mercure Windsor. The rooms are large and airy, the building a bit quirky as its retained its history and its the best value in the location. Meals can be charged from the larger Mercure just a few doors away, but I choose to eat in the adjacent lane or the Britomart precinct just back one block. Its simple, service is fine, its clean and well appointed.

Great Hotel Great Location, Friendly Staff
Had a great stay at this hotel, it is right in the middle of where we needed to be, great location for viaduct at the bottom of Queen st. Friendly helpful staff. A+ Location. The only minor mishap was that we were told to buy a parking voucher for britomart carpark from the hotel for $25 but on weekends it would have been cheaper just to do it ourselves but didnt know at the time.

great stay
If all you want is friendly staff and a clean room to sleep in then this is the place. Me and my husband stayed one night here on a night out in the city and it was great I was abit hesitant because of the other reviews but was pleasantly suprised! The best part about the hotel was the staff, they actually treated you like humans! very helpfull and not stuck up there own ....... like a few of the other hotels we have visited. Anyway if any of the staff read this we like to thank you for your great service, it was nice to see staff seem to be enjoying their job's and providing great service! :)

Location is good, but not much else
We booked this hotel when we visited Auckland for a business event, choosing it because of its location close to where our meetings would take place and because of its low price. On the positive side: the location is very fortuitous, close to the Britomart, the ferry terminal, and to CBD offices and attractions. On the negative side: just about everything else. The double bed we booked in advance was not available so we were stuck with twin beds, and those beds were of extremely poor quality. The room itself was utterly devoid of adornment--bare walls, nothing at all to distract you from the railroad-tenement shape of the cell, I mean room. One of the lights in the bathroom had a burnt-out bulb that was not replaced even after asking about it. And the whole look of the place is grimy and depressing. The entry way appears to be very insecure, too, since the elevator is outside the reception area, and is open to the street, where some less-than-savoury types are often found loitering into the evening. Not recommended.
