Just a great hotel in an amazing place
If there is a flawless hotel, this comes pretty close to hitting the mark. The staff are exceptional, responsive, and go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay. My room was very large by Japanese standards and the mattress is what one expects from the Hyatt. The bathroom was also large and the amenities very nice to see. Highly recommend.

Simply excellent
To be very brief, this hotel is simply a great choice when staying in Kyoto. Everything from the early check in (we arrived at 9h30) until the check out two days later went as you would expect from a Hyatt hotel.The only thing that bothered us a bit is that you need to pay for wi-fi access in the room. Be it only a small amount but in a hotel like this one you would expect wi-fi to be complimentary.After an tiring walk throughout Kyoto we booked for a (hot stone) massage at the Spa. A heavenly treat.Recommended!

Classy
We arrived early and had lunch in the grill whilst waiting for our rooms. Pleasant lunch of burgers with a glass of red, just the thing to get ready for our afternoon adventures. Rooms were excellent and beds supremely comfortable. Bathrooms were great with a glassed wetroom. Lobby was lovely with all the fretted timberwork.A little way out of town but just a short cab ride which was OK. Lovely bamboo gardens at the front of the hotel which was a nice touch.

Lovely decor
We enjoyed our three nights at the Hyatt Regency very much. We also loved Kyoto! The decor was unusual but very striking, especially in the bedrooms. The hotel was comfortable and the staff polite and helpful, as of course they are throughout Japan. The hotel was a longish walk from the Gion area, and the centre of town, but it was an enjoyable walk along the river and only a short taxi ride. Of course it was the middle of the cherry blossom season so the whole of Kyoto was busy.Our only gripe about the hotel is that we had to queue for breakfast. The Japanese breakfast restaurant downstairs (which ONLY offered a set Japanese menu) was almost empty, but there was a queue for the western one. It was a shame they couldn't compromise a bit. And the service at breakfast was slow. We also didn't particularly like the downstairs bar, again the service was quite slow and there was the ever present cigarette smoke! We never could quite come to terms with the fact that the fastidiously clean Japanese put up with smoking in bars and restaurants. All in all a good stay though.

Beautiful Hotel, Excellent Service
Stayed here at the end of our holiday in Japan. This is a beautifully designed and practical hotel. Really comfortable bed with more than enough room for 2 people. Our standard room was spacious and came with a well-equipped bathroom with the separate shower/bath combination found in the better Japanese hotels. Service staff were excellent throughout. 5 minutes or less in a taxi and you are at the train station, shopping streets and many of the major temples and gardens. Would definitely stay here again.
