Sad to see this place go
The Swiss Grande has been sold out and will be converted to private apartments in July 2013 with a boutique Hotel at rear not sure who will be running that. Place has not changed since our last stay except for a feeling that it is running on a skeleton staff due to the impending closure and the venue does not have the former busy feel of its past. May have chosen to stay somehwere else had I known its destiny.

Secret Hotel Deal
Grand in the old days but not nowadays. Hotel is big with plenty of rooms. Each hotel room has a sitting room (with a TV), bathroom and a bedroom (with a TV as well). Great to have balcony that lets fresh air to clear the room odour (perhaps the sanitization smell). Only a short walking distance to the Bondi Beach, and easy to find place to eat. Nice to see the photos hung on the corridor wall which shows the changes in Bondi Beach.

Family stay at Swiss Grand
Like other reviewers, I agree this hotel is not 4 star anymore. However, for value for money we could not fault it for the 4 of us for $161 per night. The location was quiet at night and easy access to some great Bondi eateries. It was disappointing that the indoor pool seemed to be full of local toddlers having swimming lessons, so not available to guests very often. And the outdoor pool and spa needs cockroach baiting big time! We went up at night to use the spa which looked lovely but the cockroaches were so plentiful, we were stepping on them, even when trying not to. This put us off going into the spa. Despite this, I would stay again with my family as it was great value in an expensive city.

This hotel is just waiting to close
I arrived for a night away with some girlfriends not expecting too much as I had read the reviews. The location is fantastic - right across the road from the beach on Campbell Parade but as soon as you walk into the hotel there is an air of disrepair - scratched walls, worn carpet, mismatched decor. The check in staff were friendly and helpful and the lobby ok but it all just feels a bit odd.Our room was an Ocean King Deluxe and had a lounge area, a king bed and a spa bath. We were on the 3rd floor and the balcony overlooked the beer garden which would have generated a lot of noise in summer but as the night was cold and windy it was, thankfully empty.The room was clean but showing signs of wear and tear - to be expected given the hotel's age and impending demolition. Warning the curtains do not block out sunlight so between the sun and the noisy kids next door we had an unwelcome early wake up call.We chose the hotel purely on location and it delivered on that but for the price ($320 a night- thankfully I was able to discount this using some reward points) I would expect more.

Swiss Grand hotel review
The rooms were too small. The shower was the worst we have ever seen.The bed was absolutely comfy. Staff were great and the location is awesome.The hotel rooms need renovating. The walls are cracking and bits are coming off.
